The call for applications for the upcoming 2016 Ex Oriente Film workshop was officially announced during the IDF reception in Berlinale/EFM. For the new cycle of this acclaimed international programme we are looking for creative documentary projects in development or in the early production phase.

Teams consisting of a director and producer can apply to the Ex Oriente Film workshop until May 4th 2016. The workshop offers a new opportunity to apply for a scholarship to cover not only the participation fee but also travel costs associated with attending the workshop.

Ex Oriente Film is an international workshop focused on creative development and funding of creative documentary films. During three week-long workshops held over the next nine months, producers and directors gain assistance and advice from leading filmmakers and experts in the development of ideas, production, and distribution strategy for their upcoming documentaries. The Ex Oriente Film program leads into the co-production session East European Forum, where workshop participants will present their projects to European and North American television and independent producers, distributors, buyers and film fund representatives, as well as festivals representatives. In addition to automatic inclusion in the East European Forum workshop, participants will have the opportunity to gain a wide range of scholarships and prizes in the form of direct financial support, co-production agreements, access to leading European markets and partner training.

The main tutors for Ex Oriente Film 2016 will be: renowned dramaturge, director and producer Iikka Vehkalahti (Finland), Head of Studies of the European Documentary Network Mikael Opstrup (Denmark), director and producer Filip Remunda and director and dramaturge Ivana Pauerová Milošević (CR). Alongside them during the three workshop sessions will be more than 30 internationally leading directors, producers, dramaturges, editors, cameramen, festival representatives, experts in marketing and distribution, and international co-productions.

You can submit your documentary projects via the online APPLICATION FORM (applying is free of charge and is only available in English). You can find more information about the workshop and the specific details of the program at http://www.dokweb.net/activities/ex-oriente-film/2016/about.
