www.DOKweb.net je portál zaměřený na východoevropský dokumentární film. Nabízí denně aktualizovaný informační servis o vznikajících a dokončených filmech, rozhovory s tvůrci i se zástupci dalších dokumentárních profesionálů nebo analýzy situace dokumentární podpory v různých zemích regionu, měnících se způsobů produkce, distribuce a obecně podpory a financování dokumentárního filmu. Jeho součástí jsou i rozsáhlé databáze východoevropských filmů, institucí, produkčních společností, fondů, festivalů, nebo trailerů a video reportáží. www.DOKweb.net je hlavním online projektem IDF, poskytuje veškeré informace o aktivitách organizace, které zároveň propojuje s obecným informačním servisem.
Aktivity Institutu dokumentárního filmu
Občanské sdružení INSTITUT DOKUMENTÁRNÍHO FILMU (IDF) již od roku 2001 podporuje východoevropský autorský dokumentární film a jeho prosazení na evropské úrovni. Obracíme se na východoevropské režiséry a nezávislé producenty, kterým pomáháme při vývoji, produkci, propagaci a distribuci jejich dokumentární tvorby. Nabízíme jim komplexní řetězec podpory, který cílí na jednotlivé filmaře (konzultace s vybranými experty), skupiny vybraných profesionálů s projekty či filmy (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch atd.), domácí i mezinárodní dokumentární komunitu (East Doc Platform) i veřejnost (portál www.DOKweb.net). Spolupracujme s předními festivaly, TV stanicemi, distributory, sales agenty, trhy nebo vzdělávacími programy, pro něž jsme BRANOU DO VÝCHODOEVROPSKÉHO DOKUMENTU.

Conditions of Participation:

Directors and producers participate with their own creative documentary projects. It is required that all workshop sessions be attended by both the director and the producer. Participants must be proficient in English. The Ex Oriente Film workshop is designed primarily for Central and East European creative documentary projects dealing  and for directors and producers from Central and Eastern Europe. However, we may accept up to one-third (4 out of 12-14 projects) of participants/projects from other parts of Europe with projects thematically bound to our region.



Project Selection:

Projects will be assessed by a five-member committee made up of IDF staff and international experts.

The list of 12- 14 projects selected for the Ex Oriente Film Workshop will be announced in June 2014 at www.dokweb.net.



Participation Fee:

Participation fee is EUR 1,500 per selected project (includes all accommodation, coffee breaks and lunches for 2 persons during the three workshop sessions).


Successful applicants whose projects are selected have to pay the participation fee. Projects that fail to pay the fee will be excluded from participation at the workshop. Participation fee is EUR 1,500 per project for accommodation, coffee breaks and one meal per day. Travel expenses are paid by the participants. Scholarships:
Successful participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia whose project is selected may apply for scholarship to cover part of the participation fee. Applicants must prove that there is no access to scholarship in their own country and that the project is not supported by any development funding. To apply for scholarship, applicants must send us a request and an official letter from their local MEDIA Desk or national film centre confirming this.


Application Step-by-step

Before you start filling out the application form, please make sure you are able to provide all required materials (logline and synopsis; treatment; budget and financial plan in separate MS Word and Excel files; film stills; photos of director and producer; links to the trailer and to the filmmakers ´presentation video). PLEASE MAKE SURE ALSO THAT YOUR BROWSER ALLOWS COOKIES AND THAT THE SOFTWARE YOU ARE USING DOES NOT BLOCK COOKIES (some Firewalls do).



ONLINE APPLICATION FORM IN FIVE STEPS

1/5) Accept Ex Oriente Film conditions of participation (current page).
2/5) Fill out details on the project, director, producer, production company.
- Insert link to the trailer (can by based on research material)
- Insert link to the 2- to 5- minute video of yourself where you explain why you want to make this particular film and what you want to achieve. (The video can be very rough and ready recorded on a flipcam, iphone, computer, etc.)
3/5) Print the form
4/5) Attach files (each max. 2 MB)
- Logline and synopsis (approx. 1 A4)
- Treatment (approx. 2 A4)
- Budget (approx. 1/2 A4)
- Financial plan (approx. 1/2 A4)
- Motivation letter describing why you would like to attend the Workshop (max. 1/2 A4)
- Film stills (max. 10)
- Director’s photo
- Producer’s photo
5/5) Generate the confirmation code

B. HARD COPY APPLICATION SENT BY REGULAR MAIL
Print out the confirmation code generated on the last page of the online application form and attach the code to the application sent by regular mail. Each application must include the following:  

1) Generated confirmation code, project title, name of director, producer and production company 
2) Application form in 3 copies (main details about the director, producer, production company and the project), project in 3 copies (apart from application form max. 6 pages of project, including logline and synopsis, treatment, budget, financial plan, motivation letter, producer’s CV, director’s CV and stills)
3) 3 x DVD copy with the project trailer
4) 3 x DVD copy with a previous film of the director
All required documents and materials must be sent by June 1, 2014 to the following address: Institute of Documentary Film, Ex Oriente Film, Stepanska 14, 110 00 Prague 1, Czech Republic.


 
Before you fill out the application and send your project, please go through our checklist:

1) The project specifies the main storyline and gives a strong sense of what the future film will be like.
2) The project has an actual topic and it is not merely a description of the story and protagonists.
3) The project has an overlap, i.e., the local subject is tied in with the universal. 
4) A logline (a one-sentence description) is included at the beginning of the project.
5) Any film titles that might appear in the CV’s have been translated into English.
6) The project includes pictures that relate to the story, its environment and protagonists.
7) The project includes contact details for the director and the producer.
8) The project includes a budget draft.
9) The project is max. 6 pages long.
