CATALOGUE of the UPCOMING CZECH DOCUMENTARY FILMS
More information about the conditions for the films to be included in the catalogue will be published in the beginning of summer.
Venue: Světozor Cinema, Vodičkova 41, Prague 1, Czech Rep.
Date: September 26 2006
AIM:
Local documentary film production in despite of the constant financial difficulties and lack of support is permanently confirming its outstanding position by its original results.
Over the past few years audiences throughout the world have yet again discovered the intensity and significance of documentary film-making, which casts onto film and its viewers reflection of the immediate reality, as well as a surprise factor and authenticity which feature films are believed to have lost recently. The documentary film is not simply an adjunct to feature films, but a wholly independent cinematographic genre in its own right.
Nevertheless, the inner originality of the recent Czech documentary films or prices on the international film festivals do not have the power to change the way the documentary is perceived and evaluated. The Czech documentary film deserves complex support including the informational service about all the chain links of the local production. The panel and the catalogue are willing to do that - to shed the light on the films that will be finished on 2006 or by the end of August 2007.
CATALOGUE OF THE FORTHCOMING CZECH DOCUMENTARY FILM is available in the office of the Institute of documentary film, Jihlava IDFF and Czech Film Center and will further be distributed on the international film festivals, markets and other events. The 2005 catalogue went on the following tour:
Berlinale, Nyon, Crossing Europe Linz, Hot Docs Toronto, Cracow FF, Silver Docs, Discop Budapest, Sunny Side of the Docs La Rochelle, FID Marseille, Sarajevo, Zagreb Dox, Sofia International FF, Sheffield IDFF, Leipzig IFF, IDFA Amsterdam, IFF Cannes, Tribeca Film Festival New York, IFF Pusan, IFF Toronto
