CATALOGUE
The Catalogue of Forthcoming Czech Documentary Films provides an annual survey of Czech documentary filmmaking. It is distributed throughout the year by the Institute of Documentary Film, Czech Film Center and the Jihlava IDFF at documentary festivals and markets across Europe. In 2008 and 2009, the Catalogue will make stops at the following events: Berlinale, Vision du Réel – Nyon, Crossing Europe Linz, Hot Docs Toronto, Cracow IFF, Silver Docs, Discop Budapest, Sunny Side of the Docs La Rochelle, FID Marseille, Sarajevo, Zagreb Dox, Sofia IFF, Sheffield IDFF, Leipzig IFF, IDFA Amsterdam, IFF Cannes, Tribeca Film Festival New York, Pusan IFF, Toronto IFF.
UNIQUE DATABASE
Besides being included in the print catalogue, the collected films become part of our unique online database of upcoming Czech documentary films. Once finished, they are entered into the database of completed Czech films that currently holds nearly 600 films made after 1989. The database includes filters for easier search and sorting; completed films come also with an image gallery and trailers.
PRESENTATION OF SELECTED DOCUMENTARIES
A representative selection of approximately 10 documentary films submitted to the Catalogue will be introduced at a public presentation. Director and producer of each selected project share details of the synopsis with members of the press and film professionals and play a short preview from their film. The press presentation aims to inform journalists and films experts about documentary films right from the development stage, and to raise public awareness about Czech documentary films in all stages of development. The presentation is scheduled to take place in September, 2008. More details will follow.
CONDITIONS
The Catalogue focuses mainly on single documentary films; projects made for television may apply only as singles or episodes from documentary cycles. Only projects that can supplement the oral presentation with some visuals, whether it be stills, previews or a trailer, may be selected to take part in the presentation.
