DOKweb Content
www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Doc Launch

Doc Launch supports East European documentary films in the production and post-production stage on their way to distribution. It consists of the annual Doc Launch presentation and the year-long Doc Launch programme that supports East European documentary films at international events, providing them with consultations and networking possibilities aimed at facilitating distribution.

Doc Launch presentation
The Doc Launch presentation annually introduces 8-9 handpicked feature-length documentaries from Central and Eastern Europe. Festival programmers, distributors, sales agents, members of the press and audiences get the first glimpse of films in post-production slated for theatrical release over the next year. Building its profile around outstanding documentary projects aiming for theatrical distribution, the Doc Launch presentation is based on the tradition of Docu Talents from the East, co-organized by IDF and IDFF Jihlava at the Karlovy Vary IFF from 2005 to 2009.

Doc Launch programme
The Doc Launch programme provides assistance in securing additional funding at international events as well as at other initiatives organized by IDF; script editing consultations; ongoing promotion at DOKweb.net; presentation of films in the post-production stage; rough-cut consultancy sessions and, finally, inclusion in the East Silver Market (since 2007). As opposed to the annual presentation which showcases 8-9 documentary projects, the year-long Doc Launch programme is open to approx. 100 documentary projects that attended the Ex Oriente Film workshop, East European Forum or Doc Launch presentation and are not yet completed.
