DOKweb Content
www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

About
The Doc Launch presentation annually introduces 9 handpicked feature-length documentaries from Central and Eastern Europe. Festival programmers, distributors, sales agents, members of the press and audiences get the first glimpse of films in post-production slated for theatrical release over the next year.

This year will mark the second edition of the Doc Launch presentation. The presentation builds on a long tradition and has hosted a number of filmmakers and producers who presented their rough cuts and documentary projects in post-production. Last year the presentation hosted many notable filmmakers, such as Nikolaus Geyrhalter, Audrius Stonys, Pawel Lozinski and Pavel Kostomarov. Some of the projects have already been completed and started travelling the festival circuit, including Nikolaus Geyrhalter's Abendland (premiered this March at Diagonale where it received the Award for Best Artistic Editing of a Documentary Film) and Ramin by Audrius Stonys (screened in April at Visions du Réel). Father and Son by Pawel Lozinski and Pavel Kostomarov's You Too are to be released later this year.

Participants
Projects are presented by directors and producers within the Industry Section organized in Jihlava by IDF. Each project is given 10 minutes, including the trailer or clip. The projects are already funded and seek further festival screenings and international distribution. Due to its slightly different focus (feature-length version, theatrical release), the Doc Launch presentation gets approx. one-half of its projects from former Ex oriente Film and East European Forum participants, the selection of the second half is based on our year-long research.

All participants rehearse their presentations on Thursday, October 27, with the help of two experienced experts (festival selector, sales agent). In the evening, the participants will have a chance to take part in the Project Market – organized one-on-one meetings with all registered buyers, sales agents, distributors, and festival programmers.

Guests
Doc Launch will present projects in the post-production stage to buyers, sales agents, distributors and festival programmers who also attend the East European Forum and the East Silver Market. In addition, we invite 4-6 distributors, sales agents and festival selectors who focus on feature-length documentaries with theatrical release potential.

Requirements
The Doc Launch presentation accepts Central and East European documentary projects slated for release from November 2011 through October 2012. The event is geared towards remarkable feature documentary projects or rough cuts made for the cinema.
