www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

BAHRTALO! (GOOD LUCK!) RECEIVES SUPPORT FROM EUROPA CINEMAS

Skirting the border between fiction and documentary, Bahrtalo! (Good Luck!) by Hungarian director Róbert Lakatos received the Europa Cinemas Label Award at this year's Karlovy Vary IFF, adding to the successful run of films that in the past attended the Ex Oriente Film workshop or the East European Forum. A feature film by Stefan Komandarev who is among the participants of the current Ex Oriente Film workshop, ranked fifth in the audience vote out of a total of 195 films.

 

Bahrtalo! (Good Luck!)

Selected from 17 European films that premiered at the Karlovy Vary IFF, the winner will receive financial support for promotion and theatrical release in cinemas included in the Europa Cinemas network. Robert Lakatos and Anita Gerencser (Inforg Studio) presented the fiction documentary project Bahrtalo! (Good Luck!) at the 2005 East European Forum and at the Docu Talents from the East.

 

 

 

 

The World Is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner

Stefan Komandarev's feature The World Is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner, presented in the Karlovy Vary IFF section Another View, ranked fifth in the audience vote. Stefan Komandarev attends the current edition of Ex Oriente Film with the project Varshets – Italy about the life in a Bulgarian town affected by the temporary or long-term absence of nearly all of its female residents who work in Italy. During the first few days following the screening of The World Is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner, Stefan Komandarev received offers from 17 other international festivals.
