Festival of Czech Films
April 21 -27, 2008
Finále is a competitive and comprehensive overview of Czech feature-length films. Some years ago the Czech documentary competition was also introduced. During one week, the complete full-length feature film production and a selection of the most successful and interesting documentaries will be screened in traditional screening venues. The whole film week is completed by screenings of further Czech films in various sections and retrospectives, accompanied by discussions with interesting filmmakers.
The International Documentary Film Jury consisting of:
Peter Kerekes (Slovakia) – chairperson of the jury
Helena Třeštíková (Czech Republic), documentarian
Anita Gerencsér (Hungary), producer
awards the Golden Kingfisher in the Best Documentary Film category to
CITIZEN HAVEL, directed by Pavel Koutecký and Miroslav Janek, "for quixotic efforts of the filmmakers and the main protagonist to change the world for the better."
