Discovery Campus e.V., one of the most renowned documentary training initiatives in Europe, sets out to new horizons and operates from now on under its new name Documentary Campus. In connection with the name change, the logo of the European training initiative has changed as well. With its new name and new distinctive design, Documentary Campus presents itself in a modern, much younger and future-oriented look.
Discovery Campus e.V. has decided to change its name to Documentary Campus to already make the strong focus of the European initiative on documentary training visible in the name and to meet the organisation‘s growing international orientation. With its new name, the training initiative will be able to act more efficiently and independently on the market than before.
Since its foundation and registration as a non-profit organisation almost 10 years ago, Discovery Campus has become firmly established in the European non-fiction market. Over the years, the training initiative has steadily grown and adapted its training programme to the needs and trends of the market. With new projects and concepts, Documentary Campus begins a new era full of verve. Documentary Campus will operate under the same professional continuity and quality as it has in the past, and will from now on support all kinds of documentary films - for private as well as public service broadcasters.
About Documentary Campus:
The aim of Documentary Campus is to provide advanced training for professionals and up-and-coming talents in the European documentary sector and to make them competitive for the international non-fiction market. Through a variety of workshops, seminars and public symposia with renowned international experts, Documentary Campus tackles special, contemporary themes pertaining to challenges and developments in the international non-fiction market and innovations in the genre. Topics cover among others script development, financing and coproduction skills, legal matters, distribution, marketing and new technologies. The heart of the initiative is the Documentary Campus Masterschool for project development. In a ten-months course, 15 European participants - authors, directors, producers and commissioning editors - develop documentary projects for the international market. They are being mentored by two internationally experienced tutors active in the non-fiction sector. Besides they take part in four workshops and pursue an internship in an internationally operating production or distribution company.
To complement its well-proven training offers and to further promote the cooperation among players of the industry, Documentary Campus e.V. launched an online cooperation platform www.reelisor.com in August 2008 with the support of the MEDIA Programme. reelisor constantly develops innovative networking and promotion tools offering European documentary professionals an opportunity to register with a personal profile, to connect with other professionals and commissioning editors, to present and promote current projects, enhance their state of knowledge and discuss current topics.
