Docudays UA - International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival

On top of its film lineup, the festival's human rights focus is evident in the number of workshops, seminars and debates on human rights issues in the Ukraine that take place throughout the week. The festival opens with the Danish documentary feature The Ambassador and closes with the Russian-UK-US co-production doc My Perestroika. Special events include screenings of eight films from the multiplatform documentary project 15 Young by Young (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum 2008, Doc Launch 2011), screenings of selected docs presented by the Krakow Film Festival and FIDMarseille, and appearances by filmmakers Marshall Curry and Michael Glawogger. Russian filmmaker Marina Razbezhkina will attend Docudays to introduce a retrospective of her films and to host a special master class.
Here's a brief summary of East European docs / films that have been part of IDF's events (please click on the film title for all applicable IDF events - Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, Doc Launch, East Silver): In the DOCU/Life Competition dedicated to portraits, human interest and character-driven stories, Docudays screens Abendland by Nikolaus Geyrhalter; Argentinian Lesson by Wojciech Staron; Autumn Gold by Jan Tenhaven; How Are You Doing, Rudolf Ming? by Roberts Rubins; Katka by Helena Třeštíková; La Machina by Thierry Paladino; Paradise Hotel by Sophia Tzavella; Planet Kirsan by Magdalena Pieta, and Ramin by Audrius Stonys.
The DOCU/Right Competition highlights issue-driven and human rights docs, and features All for the Good of the World and Nosovice by Vít Klusák; Doctors by Tomasz Wolski; Evolution of Violence by Fritz Ofner, and Life in Stills by Tamar Tal.
Docudays has selected 14 docs for the DOCU/Short Competition, including Chronicle of Oldrich S. by Rudolf Šmíd; I Will Forget This Day by Alina Rudnitskaya; Mirage by Srdan Keca; Outro by Julia Panasenko, and We Will Be Happy One Day by Paweł Wysoczański.
