www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

DOK.Incubator Offers Consultations in Bratislava

For its second workshop session in Bratislava (September 14 - 20), DOK.Incubator invites East European filmmakers to meet with attending experts on marketing and distribution. Online registration still open; observer seats available to VŠMU students.

 

DOK.Incubator is a training initiative that supports documentary films in the post-production stage. It consists of three workshops in which international lecturers help participants to develop their projects and find fresh ways of thinking about editing, international film release, distribution, marketing and active work with audiences.

The second workshop session takes place September 14 - 20 in Bratislava, and deals with the final cut of the films, marketing, distribution, PR and first release events. As part of the workshop, documentary film professionals are welcome to participate in the open session “New Media – New Opportunities for Distribution?” taking place on September 18 at 15:00 (VŠMU, Svoradova 2, Bratislava).

A series of lectures and debates on the changing situation in the documentary film market is held by independent producers  Sigrid Dyekjær (Danish Documentary), representatives of sales and distribution companies - Heino Deckert (MA.JA.DE; Deckert Distribution) and Peter Jäger (AUTLOOK Filmsales) - and people from the world of new media – Andy Green (Distrify).

DOK.Incubator also invites Slovak, Czech, Polish and Hungarian filmmakers to come and consult their projects with the following lecturers: For editing advice you can turn to French editor Camille Cotte, who worked for example with Robert Altman or Raymond Depardon, Gesa Marten, German editor, nominated several times for the German TV Academy award or the well-known Austrian editor, producer and script editor Wolfgang Widerhofer. For sales and international distribution, you can consult with experienced producer Sigrid Dyekjær of Danish Documentary. Story editing and festival strategy are the topics for Claas Danielsen, director, author of various documentaries and head of DOK Leipzig or Marek Hovorka, director of the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival. And to learn about the latest in marketing and PR strategy, you can meet Wolfgang Gumpelmeier, an Austrian blogger, social film marketing consultant and gumpelMEDIA founder or Andy Green of Distrify.
