www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

EDN TALENT GRANT 2008

The EDN Talent Grant 2008, presented at the Sarajevo Film Festival, goes to Croatian director Goran Devic. He was awarded for his film Three and will now have the opportunity to present a new project at the international pitching session Docs in Thessaloniki (March 18-22, 2009). Co-organized by the Sarajevo FF and EDN, the EDN Talent Grant aims to encourage and support up-and-coming documentary filmmakers from the Balkan region.

 

As the winner of The EDN Talent Grant Goran Devic gets a free seat at Docs in Thessaloniki, which is taking place on March 18-22, 2009. This includes the opportunity to pitch a new project to a panel of international financiers and participate in the preparatory workshop leading to the pitching event.

The EDN Talent Grant was established through the cooperation of the Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF) and the European Documentary Network (EDN), and is aimed at providing support to talented directors of documentary films from the Balkans.

The talent grant winner was selected by the Sarajevo Film Festival’s documentary jury, which this year consisted of:
Jorge Sanchez, Director of the Guadalajara Film Festival, Mexico
Dzemal Sabic, Winner of EDN Talent Grant 2007, Bosnia & Herzegovina
Michael Beltrami, Producer/Director, Switzerland

 

About Goran Devic
Goran Devic studied law, archaeology and film art at "Academy for Drama Art" in Zagreb, Croatia. His films have been screened at different international and domestic film festivals, including Sarajevo Film Festival, where he has previously won the Human Rights International Award for the documentary "Imported Crows", Rotterdam Film Festival, Soloturn Film Festival, ZagrebDox, Motovun Film Festival and others.
