www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

FORGOTTEN TRANSPORTS RELEASED ON DVD

Forgotten Transports, the internationally acclaimed four-part series completed by Lukáš Přibyl last year after a decade of painstaking research, has been released in a 4-disc DVD set. Meanwhile, Přibyl, graduate in history and political science, continues to gather praise and admiration for the series wherever he goes. The set is currently available only in Czech; other language versions will be released in the coming months.

In addition to making an appearance at the ongoing Palm Springs IFF and the New York Jewish Film Festival, all four 90-min films are set to be screened at special events in Europe and the USA.

Following his attendance at the New York Jewish Film Festival, Lukáš Přibyl will be returning to New York a the end of March. Organized at a venue for 600 guests, the Manhattan screening of Forgotten Transports will host a number of notable guests, including Nobel Prize laureate Elie Wiesel.

Released January 15 on a 4-disc DVD set, Forgotten Transports (4 x 90 min) was made in twenty countries, using witness accounts in six languages. The released DVD includes Czech version only; other language editions will follow in the coming months. The documentary series Forgotten Transports (4 x 90 minut) was made over a period of ten years in twenty countries and five contents. Composed of personal stories and perspectives, it paints a surprising picture of the Holocaust that reveals the range of tactics adopted by people exposed to the extremes of persecution and terror. The collection includes the following: Forgotten Transports to Latvia; Forgotten Transports to Estonia; Forgotten Transports to Belarus; Forgotten Transports to Poland.
