Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Good Pitch Europe 2012: Social Issues and Outreach

Until February 1, The Good Pitch Europe 2012 is accepting entries from European filmmakers working on film projects dealing with social and environmental issues. Organized by the Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation, the event takes place June 25, 2012 in London, with invited foundations, NGO's, broadcasters and other funders and media to support the selected projects and their outreach campaigns.

The Good Pitch Europe 2012
Entry deadline: February 1, 2012 (4pm UK time)
Dates: June 25, 2012, London

The Good Pitch Europe will be held on June 25th and the Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation is calling out to European filmmakers working on social and environmental justice film projects to apply. The Good Pitch is a live event bringing together specially selected foundations, NGOs, social entrepreneurs, broadcasters, brands and media to expand the resources aimed at maximising the impact of social-issue documentary.

A group of European filmmaking teams will pitch their project and its associated outreach campaign with the aim of creating a unique coalition around each film to accelerate its impact and influence.

We are looking to find projects from European filmmakers that both corporate and non-profit partners can collaborate on; films which tell great stories that, directly or indirectly, raise important contemporary global and national subjects and enhance our understanding of the world. You can only apply for Good Pitch if you have outreach or audience engagement plans for your film. Your outreach campaign can take any form, with any ultimate goal – it could seek to effect behavioural change, policy change and/or engage with the issues raised in new and interesting ways.

We look for projects at any stage from early production to completion; rough cut stage is ideal. The call is open to projects looking for completion funding, outreach funding, campaigning networks or a combination of these. Filmmakers will need to upload a trailer and 2-minute video of themselves telling us why you want to make this film and what want it to achieve.

If selected, film pitch teams must be available to be in London from March 9 - 11 for part 1 of the mandatory Campaign Development Workshop and then from June 22 - 26 inclusive for part 2 of the workshop, the pitch day itself as well as follow-up meetings. There is no fee for applying or for taking part. This all could result in completion funds, marketing partners and television sales.

Good Pitch Europe entry deadline: Wednesday, February 1, 2012, 4pm GMT.
