DOKweb Content
www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Happy Holidays from IDF

We would like to thank all of our friends, partners, fans and other documentary enthusiasts for their generosity and support. We wish you all Happy Holidays.

A lot has happened this year. Before you download our New Year's Card, here's a quick reminder of some of the momentous events that shaped our documentary world in 2010:

  • At the beginning of March, we launched www.DOKweb.net and have seen its traffic surge by thousands over the past months;
  • Ex Oriente Film hosted its first 2010 session in March. After the first residential workshop in Roztoky, Czech Republic, the second session took us to Warsaw...
  • New online entry forms made their debut on our website over the summer. Submitting projects/films for the East Silver Market, East European Forum and Ex Oriente Film is a breeze now. Documentary projects and completed films can be added to our database all year long.
  • In July, it was our last time with Docu Talents from the East. We presented another selection of upcoming doc releases in Jihlava this year. Another revamped version is scheduled for October 2011 under the name Doc Launch.
  • www.DOKweb.net earned its first international award in October. We accepted a Medal of Excellence in the category Integrative/Convergent Media at the Erasmus EuroMedia Awards ceremony in Vienna.
  • In mid-October, we welcomed a new addition to our team. Viera Hladišová became IDF's new Managing Director.
  • The Industry Section which took place in the last week of October in Jihlava was a great success, with a record number of industry professionals, high-profile guests, a yet bigger East Silver Market, Ex Oriente Film's 3rd workshop session, a modified format for the East European Forum, and a lot more...
  • In late November, East Silver launched its online video library, making all documentaries from its past two editions accessible to registered professionals.
