Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

IDF'S CZECH PROJECT SUPPORTS FILMMAKERS AT IDFA

As part of the Czech Project funded by the State Fund for the Support and Development of Czech Cinema, the Institute of Documentary Film provides direct support for 5 Czech documentary filmmakers at IDFA, Europe's largest documentary film festival.

IDFA 2007
November 22 - December 2

The projects detailed below will be presented at this year's Docs for Sale - Europe's largest market for creative documentaries. The 12th Docs for Sale will take place November 23 - December 2, 2007. For over eleven years, Docs for Sale has been attracting sales agents, TV stations, distributors, and festival programmers. It runs parallel to IDFA and the FORUM and stimulates the sales and distribution of new and exciting creative documentaries all over the world.

The participation of Czech filmmakers at IDFA was made possible by a generous agreement with Adriek van Nieuwenhuyzen, Head of IDFA Industry Office, who attended this year's East European Forum as a tutor and selected the winner of the inaugural IDFA Award.

For the five filmmakers, IDF provides a three-night accommodation, festival accreditation (€40), and Docs for Sale accreditation (€220).
