www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Jihlava IDFF Opens Call for Emerging Producers

Producers with some experience and at least one completed film have until the end of April to apply for Emerging Producers, a new industry project organized by the Jihlava IDFF in cooperation with MEDIA Desk offices across Europe. 15 selected participants will attend networking and training events, October 25 - 28, at the Jihlava IDFF.

Emerging Producers is a four-day event for 15 producers from European countries involving promotion, training and networking programme, meetings with industry experts during master classes, case studies and one-on-one meetings.

The aim of the project is to provide beginning talented European producers with easy access to information in the field of audiovision as well as orientation on the film market, to point them out to professionals from various fields of the film industry by means of an extensive presentation, to create a new platform for the encounters of film professionals with an emphasis on documentary cinematography and, last but not least, establish contact with colleagues from other countries and thus increase the potential of future European international co-productions.

The event is organized by the Jihlava IDFF in cooperation with MEDIA Desks in Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany (Düsseldorf), Hungary, Greece, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (Catalunya), Switzerland and MEDIA Antenna Torino.


Selection Criteria

• Producer with a several years’ experience in the local market (i.e. not a student or a recent graduate) with a capacity for future professional growth and with ambitions to be active in the European market
• At least one realized film (fiction or documentary, mid-length or feature) which has entered theatrical distribution, has been screened at a festival etc.
• A concrete project is not a condition, however, it is considered an advantage
• Producers with projects supported by MEDIA Development, or having participated at MEDIA Training in the past will be given priority

• EUR 90 - Central and Eastern Europe / Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia
• EUR 150 - Western Europe / Austria, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, Norway, Spain, Switzerland

You can apply here until April 30. Selection will be made by the Jihlava IDFF, with the results announced July 5 at the Docu Talents from the East Presentation, organized by the Jihlava IDFF (during the Karlovy Vary IFF).
