www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

NEW DOCUMENTARY SLOTS AT KNOWLEDGE

The Canadian based broadcaster Knowledge, formerly known as Knowledge Network, has re-branded, restructured and digitized their station over the last months. This is a process initiated and lead by the channels CEO Rudy Buttignol. As part of this process Knowledge has presented a new programming schedule, with a couple of new documentary slots. Rudy Buttignol will be at the panel of East European Forum in Jihlava on October 25 - 26.

Under the heading 'Knowledge, Pass it on....' British Columbia's public educational media service, Knowledge, will now broadcast 24 hours a day. The new programming schedule will have a stronger focus on high quality, commercial-free documentaries and arts & culture programs from both Canada and around the world.




Among the documentary strands at Knowledge are:


STORYVILLE: Inspired by Nick Fraser's renowned BBC documentary strand, Storyville airs on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. with auteur point-of-view feature documentaries, one-of-a-kind stories from home and around the world. Among the titles broadcasted at Storyville are: Operation Filmmaker; Wild Blue Yonder; To See if I'm Smiling

MASTERS: Airing on Mondays at 9 p.m. this slot features inspiring portraits of masters of the arts from a variety of disciplines. This season highlights renowned talents in painting, sculpture, music and the written word.

SEASON OF THE CHILD: An in-depth look at issues affecting children's lives. From corporate influence in the classroom to autism, anorexia, bullying and more. A different topic is explored each week.

EAST IS EAST: Spotlight on the Asia Pacific on Wednesdays at 8 p.m., with a specific focus on the rapidly-changing nations of China and India.

RADIO CITY: The performing arts timeslot for music lovers. Opera, symphony and performance specials are on view every Wednesday evening at 9 p.m.

D&A: On Thursdays at 10 p.m. D&A takes a look at the DNA of Design and Architecture. This season includes titles like The Socialist, the Architect and the Twisted Tower; Frank Lloyd Wright & Vertical City.

ROUTE 66: Knowledge broadcast classics from the last 40 years of documentary filmmaking on Fridays at 10 p.m.
