One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival 2012

The festival organizer, People in Need foundation, has been bringing documentary film focused on human rights and social issues to the audiences for 13 years. Every year, One World enjoys considerable interest of public, media and notable personae and successfully drives the society towards natural human solidarity. One glimpse at the stats says enough about the high standard: in 2011, the overall number of festival audiences reached 103 695, watching 104 films from 43 countries. The festival programme offers competition categories, non-competition and specialized categories. The best films within main programme are awarded by the Best Film Award and Best Director Award, the section Right to Know hands the Rudolf Vrba Award, another awards are: Vaclav Havel Special Award for the film with the most significant contribution to human rights awareness, The Czech Radio Award for Creative Use of Sound and Music in Documentary Film, The Student Jury Award and eventually also the Audieence Award VŠEM.
IDF On the Road: In March 2012, the Institute of documentary Film enters the scene with the brand new support of East European documentary film – the East Doc Platform industry programme, organized on the background of the One World festival. The new industry will feature traditional activities, such as the 12th East European Forum, the 3rd Doc Launch annual, East Silver video library, or one-on-one meetings at Project Market, supplemented with Master Classes, Industry screenings, seminars, lectures and networking opportunities. One World 2012 submission
- Submit your film by November 30 through the online form – HERE.
- Make sure to meet the deadline to provide the festival with one preview DVD to the address below (IMPORTANT: if the film isn’t completed by the deadline, there is a possibility to provide the rough cut version preview).
- One World festival does not collect any fees for the submission.
- One World festival accepts feature and short documentaries, as well as short animations.
- There are no limitations with respect to the country of origin.
- The film needs to be in Czech, or with Czech or English subtitles.
Selection
- A board of experts evaluates all submissions through criteria based on form and contents.
- The results of the selection will be available in February 2012.
- All applicants will be informed about the decision via email. The festival will require a set of additional materials from the selected applicants (photos, dialogue records/subtitles, promotion material, etc.).
