UNESCO has awarded its Honourable Mention for Peace Education to the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival Prague, in recognition of an innovative approach in using the language of art to inculcate respect for human dignity and human rights for all without discrimination. The former Czech president Vaclav Havel, holder of the 1990 UNESCO Prize for Peace Education, nominated the One World Festival to be awarded.
UNESCO has awarded the Prize and Honourable Mention for Peace Education every two years since 1978. The Prize is given to Pretoria’s Centre for Human Rights. The other Honourable Mention goes to the European Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratisation (E.MA) of the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC).
