www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

ROMANIA AND CAUCASUS LAUNCH NEW WORKSHOP

The Romanian Film Sector Association and the Independent Filmmakers' Association South Caucasus have initiated TrainEastFilm, a one-week residential workshop (September 20-26, 2009, Tbilisi) designed for 24 emerging directors, producers, CE's and media lawyers, etc. The training revolves around lectures, case studies and group sessions, covering various issues, ranging from project development and funding to marketing or intellectual property law. TrainEastFilm is a project of film professionals from all over Eastern Europe, initiated by Romanian Film Sector (Bucharest) and Independent Filmmakers' Association South Caucasus (Baku, Tbilisi and Yerevan), and supported by Alt Film (Chisinau), Ankara Cinema Association, Molodist Film Festival (Kyiv) and Film Studio Tanka (Riga).

The one-week residential workshop is designed for 24 debuting film professionals (producers, directors, CE's, distributors, media lawyers, etc.) with or without a feature/documentary or case study project. We welcome applications from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Turkey, Ukraine and all East European EU countries, including from citizens of all these countries whol live and work abroad. Professionals from West European countries with a special interest for Eastern Europe will be considered as well, but are not eligible for scholarship from TEF. 

Our training aims at providing relevant information on film culture and film business, to learning of know-how and training in "best practice" - all based on the principle of life-long learning. The training consists of 3 phases: Preparation Phase (case study project given prior to the workshop); Residential Workshop (lectures, case studies, screenings, group sessions covering aspects of project and script development, marketing and financing, intellectual property law, sales and distribution); Reporting Phase (participants draft a report on the outcomes of the training, to be revised by the trainers).
