www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Seminar: Co-producing Documentaries in Europe

August 31 is the extended deadline for film professionals without project who would like to attend the seminar Co-producing Documentaries in Europe. Designed for up-and-coming documentary filmmakers and producers from Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic, the event takes place September 6 and 7 in Piestany, Slovakia.


Co-producing Documentaries in Europe - International Seminar & Workshop - takes place September 6 - 7 2012 in Piešťany Slovakia. The event is co-organized by Cinematik IFF, European Documentary Network (EDN) and MEDIA Desk Slovakia, with financial support from the Slovak Audiovisual Fund.


Seminar - September 6, 2012 -
extended deadline: August 31!
The seminar will introduce European possibilities for documentary film co-productions, European documentary film market and approach of renowned TV broadcasters towards coproductions with independent producers. It is designed for up and coming producers and documentary filmmakers from Slovakia and neighbouring countries. A case study of a significant international co-production will be part of the seminar. The first day will explore pitch pilots w/ Ove Rishøj Jensen, EDN; co-production opportunities in Germany with a focus on ARD/MDR w/ Claudia Schreiner, MDR; and producer Bram Crols will discuss Lost Down Memory Lane (dir. Klara Van Es, 2010, Belgium/Netherlands) in his case study following a screening of the film.

Selected applicants with projects will have an opportunity to consult the project with renowned international tutors: Ove Rishøj Jensen, EDN, Denmark Claudia Schreiner, MDR, Germany Bram Crols, Associate Directors, Belgium. Attending projects: Salto Mortale (Anabela Zigova), Identity Card (Yvonne Vavrova), King of Porn (Katarina Kocalkova) a Afghanistan Music (Fardad Rastgar Karimi).
