The event was founded by the FVG AUDIOVISUAL FUND and the TRIESTE FILM FESTIVAL, in collaboration with EAVE, EURIMAGES and CENTRAL EUROPEAN INITIATIVE in 2010 when it included Spanish film industry. The 2011 edition introduced French film in the game, there were 16 projects in development picked out of 92 applicants, 7 of them documentaries. This year’s aim is the selection of 20 producers who will present their projects to a large panel of decision makers attending the event and will have the opportunity to set individual meetings with all of them. In addition to that WEMW organizes round tables, presentations and case studies.
Projects should be feature films or documentaries in development with a potential for an international coproduction, preferably with a minimum of 20% of the budget already in place. Even though there are three main areas involved (East Europe, Italy and Nordic countries), producers can apply with projects suitable for a coproduction between at least two of these regions.
All applications must include:
- complete application form (HERE)_ synopsis
- approx. 5 – 8 page treatment / exposé in English
- director’s note of intention
- financing plan
- producer’s CV
- CV of the writer and (if already attached) director
- company profile and track record
All documents must be in English and must be sent via email before November 15, 2011 to email@example.com
Selection will be done in collaboration with EAVE on several criteria: producers CVs, company track record, potential of the treatment and international dimension of the project. Selected projects will be announced in December and selected producers will be offered travel and accommodation in Trieste.
Selected producers will have the opportunity to pitch their project in front of an international industry audience (potential co-producers, commissioning editors, sales agents, distributors, film funds representatives and financiers from both areas) in the framework of a closed pitching event.
