The main objective of the Barcelona Asian Film Festival is the promotion and diffusion, in Spain, of Asian cinema produced in the countries of the Far East and Asia. The main competition includes approx. 11 feature, documentary and animated films, 70 minutes or longer. Other festival sections are: Asian Selection; D-Cinema - digital formats; Guest Country - a selection of films from a specific country; Espacio Anime - anime, manga, etc.; and special screenings. The best feature film in the official selection receives the Durián de Oro Award along with the prize of Euro 6,000.

The Catalonia International Environmental Film Festival (Festival Internacional de Cine del Medi Ambient) accepts documentary films and short fiction that deal with human relationships or the way human beings relate to their environment (i.e. social, natural, cultural, political, ecological, etc.). Beldocs - Belgrade International Documentary Film Festival caters to curious and adventure-seeking viewers by offering a wide range of interesting and provocative films of high emotional charge. One of the goals of is to make the domestic viewer familiar with the most important, highest quality, best feature-length documentaries made in various parts of the world. The only characteristics that these films must possess are quality, up-to-dateness, originality and provocativeness regardless of their topics and origins. Bergen International Film Festival (BIFF) first took place in 2000 and is the largest andone of the most interesting film festivals in Norway. The festival presents a selection of new feature and documentary films from all over the world. The programme consists of about 150 titles. The main programme is the International Competition in which 15 feature films which have not yet been released in Norway compete for the Jury Award. BIFF also has a comprehensive international Documentary Section with films dealing with contemporary issues; the festival organizes several panel discussions in connection with these. BIFF also has sneak previews of upcoming cinema releases, animation films, fantasy and science fiction, gay and lesbian films, and a Norwegian short film competition. The side bar „Checkpoints“ is a collaboration with the Rafto Foundation for Human Rights and consists of about 25 films. The winner is granted about € 6.500, which is given to the cause of the film or the people it portraits.

The BFI London Film Festival showcases the best new films from around the world. Presented by the BFI, the Festival celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2006. Originally conceived as a 'festival of festivals', screening a selection of strong titles from other European festivals, the first London Film Festival screened 15 films from an impressive array of directors, including Luchino Visconti, Akira Kurosawa and Andrzej Wajda. The festival focuses primarily on bringing film to the public, offering opportunities for people to see films that would not otherwise get a UK screening but also screen films which will get a release in the autumn or spring.
