The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.

Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Duisburger Filmwoche is the most important event for German-language documentary films. The competition programme consists of the general documentary competition and doxs!, a competition of documentaries for children. All films are screened in a single theatre, which gives audiences the chance to view the entire programme. Moreover, it is usual for the directors to introduce their own films. Due to the festival's affiliation with the TV stations ARTE and 3sat, a large number of TV professionals, producers and journalists attend the events.

Duna Workshop was founded in 1995 as the workshop of the Duna Television to provide a chance for realisingthe projects of young filmmakers. More than a hundred films have been assisted by the workshop, all of whichwerebroadcastedonDunaTelevision.One of the greatest achievements of the past years was Marcell Iványi’s Wind, which was awarded the Palmed’Or in Cannes. But many of their productions have represented ethnic Hungarian films at international festivalsin Hungary. Péter Mészáros’s short film After Rain, was the Cannes Palme D’or in 2002. As the dramaturg of theDuna Television I help many Hungarian films financially, as well as with broadcast opportunities.

Duracfilm is a film production company, focusing on the creative documentary films, especially European co-productions. Duracfilm is member of the APA, Czech Audiovisual Producer's Association. Duracfilm was established in 2003 in Olomouc as a free group of young non-professional film-makers, 2004 founded officially. During the studies at the FAMU (Film Academy, Prague), Duracfilm co-produced some of the school’s short fiction films and documenaries. Since 2005 it has been producing together with the Czech Television short TV news from the biggest central- and east European International Documentary Film Festival Jihlava. In the last 3 years Duracfilm produced two feature documentary films: IN SIGHT (Nadohled), a film essay about classical and postmodern supervision mechanisms, and THE TRIPOINT (Trojmezí), a social-poetic portrait of the easternmost village in the Czech Republic, about destinies determined by state borders.

South Africa’s longest-running film festival, the Durban International Film Festival runs across 12 days at the end of July, presenting over 250 screenings of current films from around the world, with strong focus on South African and African cinema. Screenings take place throughout Durban including township areas where cinemas are non-existent. The festival also runs extensive seminar and workshop programmes to stimulate industry capacity. This Includes the participation of 40 filmmakers from Africa in Talent Campus Durban, a cooperation with the Berlin Film Festival, and the Durban FilmMart, a film financing initiative in partnership with Durban Film Office. DIFF is organised by the Centre for Creative Arts (UKZN).
