In 1995 Tallinn Art University was renamed Estonian Academy of Arts (EAA), the name was certified in 1996.

Estonian Animation Union

The Estonian Association of Film Journalists was established in 1993 and joins approximately 30 film journalists, who strive to popularise film in Estonia. The Association is a member of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI). Each year, the Association selects the best Estonian film. Film journalists also give their award at the annual Black Nights International Film Festival in Tallinn, which takes place in November - December. The Association coordinates the participation of Estonian film journalists in international festivals and appoints candidates to the international FIPRESCI juries.

The Estonian Film Foundation (Eesti Filmi Sihtasutus) was established in 1997 by the Government of Estonia as a private legal institution with the task of financing Estonian film production; establishing and developing international film contacts; promoting Estonian films at home and abroad; supporting the training of Estonian filmmakers and audiovisual professionals; creating and maintaining Estonian film databases. Estonian Film Foundation represents Estonia at international film festivals, markets and organisations. Estonia is a member of MEDIA Plus and European Audiovisual Observatory. As of January 2004, Estonia also joined Eurimages.

Estonian Film Producers Association 

Established in 1962, the Estonian Filmmakers’ Union is a non-profit organization and a creative union of professional Estonian filmmakers. There are 160 members in the Union and they represent different professions in filmmaking – screenwriters, directors, producers, cinematographers, actors, art directors, editors, gaffers etc.

The Estonian Institute was founded in 1989. Its activities are supported by the Ministry of Culture the majority of projects are funded by a number of different sources. In its foundation, the Institute followed the model of various organisations which have been successfully introducing and mediating the culture of their countries for decades (e.g. the British Council, Swedish Institute, Danish Cultural Institute, Goethe Institute). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a long-standing partner as regards the publication and distribution of the information materials about Estonia. In addition, the Institute has had a great number of co-operation projects with several other institutions from the public, private and third sectors.

The Estonian Media Center is a non-for-profit institution that provides professional training for journalists and other media employees. It was launched in late 1996 by the Estonian Media School Foundation (EMSF, prev. Estonian Media College Foundation). The center runs courses of different content and length, considering the needs and interests of Estonian press, radio and TV. The main emphasis is on developing professional skills through practical hands-on training. Lecturers/instructors come from Estonia and abroad.

The Supreme Council of the Republic of Estonia established the Estonian National Culture Foundation on June 19, 1991. Its aim is to aid the preservation and development of Estonian national culture. Since 1991, the Foundation has issued scholarships and subsidies totalling thirty-two million Estonian kroons.

Since 1999 the Film Archive has been a structural unit of the National Archives of Estonia. The Filmarchives acquires film-, photo- and audio documents of archival valu, ensures the preservation of record, and ensures the access to records.

ETV has maintained an archive since 1955 in which broadcasts of unique aspects of Estonian culture are held.

Estrogen Film is an independent Bulgarian film production company owned by the filmmakers Zornitsa Sophia and Mila Kirova, creative and business partners since 2003. Their common background includes the award winning, critically acclaimed first Bulgarian independent film MILA FROM MARS, 2004, the feature documentary MODUS VIVENDI, 2006, realized with the support of the National Film Center and FORECAST, 2008, developed with the support of MEDIA Programme of the European Community, produced with support of National Film Center, National Bulgarian TV, the first Bulgarian co-production with the US owned Nu Boyana Film Studios. ETAMP, a Czech film production company, was founded in 1991. ETAMP specializes in the production of both screen and television features, as well as the television series, mostly for the international marketplace. It is experienced in the area of international co-productions and services, and in the production of commercials and video-clips.

For twenty years the aesthetic, political and economic issues of documentary film have guided the editorial choices of the Etats généraux. It brings together all those passionately interested in documentary cinema, professionals and spectators to participate in the dynamics of training, screening and reflection that have distinguished this event since its creation. The 10th International Ethno film Festival – the Heart of Slavonia is a part of the 4th manifestation Djakovacki rezovi in Djakovo (Republic of Croatia) which takes place from the 26th to 28th June 2013.

The ETHNOCINECA is a unique film festival in the city of Vienna which is dedicated to anthropological themes and topics. It is initiated by the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology (University of Vienna) and organized by anthropology students and MASN-Austria. The ETHNOCINECA intends to provide a platform for all media-artists and filmmakers, who concentrate on anthropological issues like home, otherness, migration, oppression, liberation, poverty etc. to introduce their works to a broader audience. A public discussion about the visually presented issues shall be stimulated and facilitated.
