The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Estonian Association of Film Journalists

The Estonian Association of Film Journalists was established in 1993 and joins approximately 30 film journalists, who strive to popularise film in Estonia. The Association is a member of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI). Each year, the Association selects the best Estonian film. Film journalists also give their award at the annual Black Nights International Film Festival in Tallinn, which takes place in November - December. The Association coordinates the participation of Estonian film journalists in international festivals and appoints candidates to the international FIPRESCI juries.

The Estonian Film Foundation (Eesti Filmi Sihtasutus) was established in 1997 by the Government of Estonia as a private legal institution with the task of financing Estonian film production; establishing and developing international film contacts; promoting Estonian films at home and abroad; supporting the training of Estonian filmmakers and audiovisual professionals; creating and maintaining Estonian film databases. Estonian Film Foundation represents Estonia at international film festivals, markets and organisations. Estonia is a member of MEDIA Plus and European Audiovisual Observatory. As of January 2004, Estonia also joined Eurimages.

The Estonian Institute was founded in 1989. Its activities are supported by the Ministry of Culture the majority of projects are funded by a number of different sources. In its foundation, the Institute followed the model of various organisations which have been successfully introducing and mediating the culture of their countries for decades (e.g. the British Council, Swedish Institute, Danish Cultural Institute, Goethe Institute). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a long-standing partner as regards the publication and distribution of the information materials about Estonia. Estonian Media Center

The Estonian Media Center is a non-for-profit institution that provides professional training for journalists and other media employees. It was launched in late 1996 by the Estonian Media School Foundation (EMSF, prev. Estonian Media College Foundation). The center runs courses of different content and length, considering the needs and interests of Estonian press, radio and TV. The main emphasis is on developing professional skills through practical hands-on training. Lecturers/instructors come from Estonia and abroad.

Estonian National Culture Foundation
