Factum is the biggest and most important independent documentary production in Croatia and unique organisation in the SEE Region. From 1996, when it was founded, Factum produced some 50 documentaries that were shown on more than 70 festivals all over the world. Factum films repeatedly win major domestic awards (including four best producer ones) and some were very successful internationally. They deal mostly with human rights, social and other issues dealing with contemporary Croatia and the region. Most of Factum's filmmakers are young ones creating their first or second film here. Also, Factum is a production with the highest number of women directors in the country. Apart from producing films, Factum and its founder and leader, Nenad Puhovski became synonym for the constant struggle for better conditions and presence of creative documentaries within a post-war and transitional society and challenging the unwillingness of the public broadcaster to support the genre. The Faculty of Dramatic Arts is a leading academic institution of higher education in theatre, film, radio and television in Serbia. Many famous and celebrated artists, who have all left their mark in Serbia’s cultural identity, have graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts.

The genesis of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts (FDA) in Skopje began on 4th of November in 1969, when the Acting Department was founded and commenced its function at the Higher School of Music. Since 1987, the Faculty of Dramatic Arts has been functioning as an independent academic institution within the University “St. Cyril and Methodi” in Skopje. The study programmes of FDA focus on production, directing, cinematography, editing, etc.

Department of Film Studies

The Faculty of Social Sciences was created in 1990 through a fundamental reorganisation of the former Faculty of Journalism. It is the second youngest faculty of Charles University. Its main goal is to develop teaching and research in those aspects of the social sciences, which (directly or indirectly) relate to the public administration, or to the economic and cultural life of society. Today the Faculty has more than 3000 full-time students, plus a floating population of about 300 visiting students per year. In addition, we continue to enrol a number of foreign nationals in our full-time degree programmes, both Czech and English. Administrative structure. FADE IN - Fantastično Dobra Institucija (Incredibly Good Institution) was founded in 2000. The main aim of Fade In's production is the support of the civil sector as well as promotion of socially engaged action; the exploration and presentation of society's burning issues in the field of human rights, ecology, and urban culture; and bringing them to the broad public through mass media, especially the public television. Due to increased production, Fade In started a limited liability company under the same name in 2008 – FADE iN d.o.o. In the thirteen years since its founding, Fade In produced over 30 documentaries, animated and experimental films as well as 110 episodes of Direkt documentary series. The FAF, being a public corporation as well as part of the section of industry of the Chamber of Commerce of Austria, represents the interests of the members from the film and music industry. The occupational groups represented in the FAF cover the following areas: film and video production, studio enterprises, printing and reversal film processing laboratories, electronic duplication, film distribution and film sales, video sales, sound studios, production of sound storage media, pressing of records, CD’s and other sound storage media.

Falcon was established in 1994 and focuses on distribution and full marketing service for films that come to Czech cinemas.

FAMA is a media-publishing house with developing foundation activities. FAMA was a pioneer in development of the independent TV media in the Balkans. It has set standards to quality broadcasting and marketing by introducing a new genre called political entertainment. FAMA is fostering distribution of the Video-Archive project to educational institutions and libraries across the world in an effort to make its content accessible to different levels of education and research.

Fama Films was established in 1996 for the production of documentary and feature films, and also provides screenwriting and production services in Poland and other countries. Before the company was established, between 1989-1995 the main producer Ewa Misiewicz worked in France, where she produced television programmes for Polish and French television. In 1994/1995, while in Paris, she among other participated in the creation of the Canal Plus Polska television channel. The company’s main aim is to produce films dealing with serious social issues. Fama films also produces television reports. The company mainly concentrates on producing original documentary films.

FAMA boasts a 40-year history and is one of the most distinguished cultural events in Poland. We promote young artists representing all artistic fields, we nurture talents and aim at creating an extraordinary artistic event each year. FAMA is an interdisciplinary event - we combine music, film, theater and fine arts and we also combine the practice of artistic workshops (in order to give young artists a chance to learn something and perfect their professional skills) with the practice of artistic festival (in order to present a wide range of interesting artistic performances, projects and events).

Established in 2000, Fáma Productions is engaged in film and TV production. Its main project for 2006-2007 was the production of the feature film Keep Smiling, directed by Pavol Korec.

FAMILY FILM offers numerous possibilities and creative solutions in the field of audiovisual production. We produce a whole range of genres with a unique visual quality – advertising and TV spots, TV documentaries, feature films and TV shows.

Film and TV School (FAMU) is an integral part of the Academy of Performing Arts founded in 1947. It is one of the oldest film schools in Europe that kept its tradition even during the difficult times of communist regime. There are many influential filmmakers and scriptwriters among the school's alumni, among others: Stanislav Barabas, Oscar winner Milos Forman, Oscar winner Agnieszka Holland, Věra Chytilova, Juraj Jakubisko, Vojtech Jasny, Woody Vasulka, Lordan Zafranovic, Jan Sverak, Ivan Passer, Goran Paskaljevic, Magnum member Josef Koudelka, Jan Nemec, present Prague and National Rabbi Karol Sidon, Stefan Uher and many others. The star-studded period form FAMU were the 1960s, but the school managed to retain a comparatively free atmosphere through also the politically repressive 1970s and 1980s.

MIDPOINT is an international script development training program for graduating students and recent graduates which aims to support writer, director and producer in the development process. MIDPOINT was conceived at FAMU Prague (CZ) in partnership with film schools VŠMU Bratislava (SK), PWSFTviT Łódź (PL), UNATC Bucharest (RO) and SZFE Budapest (HU). Throughout the year, MIDPOINT also organizes miniMIDPOINT workshops in its partnering countries as well as the Training the Trainers workshop for young teachers of screenwriting. It also offers master classes to students and professional audiences in the area of film dramaturgy.

Festival FAMUFEST is a show of films created by students of Film and TV Faculty of The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague which is organized by students of the faculty.

Our education system enables topicality, flexibility and quick adjustment to the knowledge market and thus the labour market. We are aware of the fact that the transition from the student life to independent creative and working environment is often difficult, which is why we encourage students through lectures and practical work with mentors and groups as well as train them for independent work in their fields in everyday life. We promote co-operation between students taking different courses, complement their knowledge and provide for the development of individuals and their creative abilities. Students are encouraged to participate and gather experience in extracurricular activities: school's participation in international events, exhibitions in school and outside it, festivals, competitions in broader public area and extracurricular projects.
