Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Factum Documentary Film Project

Country Croatia Type of link Producer
Factum is the biggest and most important independent documentary production in Croatia and unique organisation in the SEE Region. From 1996, when it was founded, Factum produced some 50 documentaries that were shown on more than 70 festivals all over the world. Factum films repeatedly win major domestic awards (including four best producer ones) and some were very successful internationally. They deal mostly with human rights, social and other issues dealing with contemporary Croatia and the region. Most of Factum's filmmakers are young ones creating their first or second film here. Also, Factum is a production with the highest number of women directors in the country. Apart from producing films, Factum and its founder and leader, Nenad Puhovski became synonym for the constant struggle for better conditions and presence of creative documentaries within a post-war and transitional society and challenging the unwillingness of the public broadcaster to support the genre. For this and numerous other reasons in 2004, Factum launched ZAGREBDOX, international documentary only festival (for more see www.zagrebdox.net)

FAMUL STUART - School of Applied Arts

Country Slovenia Type of link School
Our education system enables topicality, flexibility and quick adjustment to the knowledge market and thus the labour market. We are aware of the fact that the transition from the student life to independent creative and working environment is often difficult, which is why we encourage students through lectures and practical work with mentors and groups as well as train them for independent work in their fields in everyday life. We promote co-operation between students taking different courses, complement their knowledge and provide for the development of individuals and their creative abilities. Students are encouraged to participate and gather experience in extracurricular activities: school's participation in international events, exhibitions in school and outside it, festivals, competitions in broader public area and extracurricular projects.
