Animatricks is the oldest and presently the only animation festival in Finland. For starting the festival in 2000 there were three reasons. Firstly, there was a need to give supportive attention to the budding Finnish animation production: To give a forum for the short films that would end up in a drawer and give new and old people of the trade a chance to meet. Secondly, we want to show the rich tradition of European animation tradition, which has been in the shadow from the Finnish public. Thirdly, we want to contribute to the presenting of animated films for broad audiences and this we see as a means of making people appreciate the trade more.

The Animex International Festival of Animation & Computer Games takes place every year in Middlesbrough in the North East of England. The festival has its roots firmly planted in the creative side of animation and computer games and acts to provide animators, directors, students, artists, designers, writers and educators with a forum in which they can share their knowledge and skills and promote the art of animation and games. Talks, presentations, workshops, screenings, parties and the opportunity to mingle with friends, old and new, from the all over the planet are available.

Annecy International Animated Film Festival is one of the world’s largest event dedicated to animation. It is a fun and friendly way to discover the latest in animation masterpieces, meet major players and young talents, check out new trends, and find ideal business partners, all in one place.

Established in 1984, the festival belongs among the most important film events in the region. Since 1988, the competition section only consists of first full-length feature films. The Festival intends to promote the work of young film-makers from all over the world. The programme is made up of six sections: 1/ First full-length feature films without distribution, 2/ Non-competitive section - first long feature films already distributed in France, 3/ Panorama of films from a particular country, 4/ Tribute to the work of a well-known actor or actress, in his/her presence, 5/ Selection of films for a young audience, 6/ Non-competitive section - short feature films.

Anonimul International Independent Film Festival takes the essence and the spirit of Sundance Film Festival trying to promote the idea of independence in the film production. Anonimul tends to be an important event for the Romanian cinema which will have the opportunity to openly and directly compete with productions from all over the world.

Short Films - though neglected in comparison to full-length feature films, can be as informative as educational, as entertaining as topical as any other medium. Recent developments across the world have established the fact that short films and documentaries can have large appeal and substantial commercial value. We believe that it is about time there was more viewership and interest amongst Indian filmmakers and audiences as well to give short films its due credit. An increasing number of talented and young filmmakers across the country are choosing short films as the medium to convey their filmmaking and narrative skills. It is felt that Hyderabad, with its growing film culture, requires a film club exclusively for short films to build a strong network with national as well as international film icons to spread horizons in terms of filmmaking. And the essence of formulating this club is to encourage amateurs and students to explore newer avenues of public appreciation and help explore commercial viability. Films Anonymous is a Club conceptualized and started by a group of film enthusiasts to propagate the cause of short films. Films Anonymous provides a platform for short filmmakers to screen their films and to have interesting and critical interactive sessions with audience consisting of people from the industry and media besides film enthusiasts. Films will be acquired from various sources like first time Filmmakers, Ad Agencies, Film Clubs, Film Festivals, Film Students, Production Houses and also from famous and critically acclaimed filmmakers directly.The entire collection will be examined by a screening committee consisting of eminent people from all walks of the society, essentially the industry, media and academics, before the movies are finalized for screenings. Films will be projected on a DV player on a LCD screen. We prefer showing the films on the state of the art DV format. We show short films only and that includes documentaries, music videos and ad-films as well. On a monthly basis, we select films based on a theme or topic. The club is open to all filmmakers, big or small, recognized or not. There is no discrimination of any sort and the atmosphere is conducive for the best creative nourishment.

Another Look is a short film contest organized by Fondazione Laboratorio Mediterraneo (FLM) with the support of the European Commission. The objective of the contest is to encourage and deepen mutual knowledge and understanding between the peoples of the two coasts of the Mediterranean through the moving image distributed via the internet. The subject for the short films and synopsis is intercultural dialogue between the European Union and the countries of the Southern coast of the Mediterranean: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey. The FLM will select 10 short films (which will be awarded 500 Euros) and 3 synopses (prize 4,000 euros) which will be produced into short films. Selected short films will then be accessible on the internet.

Anthropolis is a non-governmental, non-political, public benefit association, founded in 2002. Anthropolis is an institute for cultural and visual anthropological research and social development. Our organisation intends to strengthen institutional background of education and social and visual anthropological research. The aim of Anthropolis is to ensure a worldwide reputation of applied anthropology and promote participatory approach in management of recent social problems. We encourage development activity on local levels both in urban and rural areas, especially in the countries of the former communist block. One of our main goals is to give birth to international workshops and open forums in order to help and support discussion, network building between Hungarian and other international anthropological associations and institutions. Anthropolis is a member of TRIALOG and HAND (Non-Governmental Development Platform, Hungary), as well.

Antropofest is an international film festival of (not only) student films which deals with anthropological issues. The festival is organized by a civil association Antropofest which unites young people joined by their mutual interest in social anthropology, especially in one of its research tools, anthropological film. Together they have decided to change the situation which, until now, did not give young people and students the opportunity to present their film work thematically connected to social anthropology.
