Saratov Sufferings is an International Documentary Drama Film Festival which is annually held in Saratov, Russia. European Film Forum “Scanorama” is the festival of discoveries. The selection of films in “Scanorama” is based on professional criteria and not only personal preferences (“liked-disliked”), it is performed in a way that allows to envision, foresee, and reveal the tendencies that are most significant in the process of contemporary European cinema and the general context of film history. Each year “Scanorama” opens a new layer of classics searching for meaningful links to what is happening here and now. By means of conceptual programmes European Film Forum “Scanorama” provokes the dialogue between tradition and innovation. While culturally crossing the whole Europe this Film Forum helps to discover, explore and understand the diversity of Europe and perceive oneself as the part of it. “Scanorama” is a clear concept of film display, professional film selection, elaborate and original retrospectives, new special programmes each year, interesting guests, and thoughtful discussions. OBJECTIVES: • Systematic display of thorough panorama of European films to encourage interest in culture of European cinema, especially focusing on the young audience. • Advocate the art of European cinema in Lithuania and initiate the collaboration in film making industry among Northern, Eastern, Middle Europe, and Baltic countries (“Go Young Generation”). • Invite the audience to discover and understand different cinema, take interest in foreign cultures enriching the concept of national identity by the aspects of common European mindset.
