The BFI London Film Festival showcases the best new films from around the world. Presented by the BFI, the Festival celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2006. Originally conceived as a 'festival of festivals', screening a selection of strong titles from other European festivals, the first London Film Festival screened 15 films from an impressive array of directors, including Luchino Visconti, Akira Kurosawa and Andrzej Wajda. The festival focuses primarily on bringing film to the public, offering opportunities for people to see films that would not otherwise get a UK screening but also screen films which will get a release in the autumn or spring. In addition to screenings of recent feature, short and experimental films from the UK, Europe and the rest of the world, the programme offers a number of retrospectives and a variety of discussions and seminars led by leading film professionals.

BIL - International Film Locations & Movie Tourism Exchange is promoted by the City of Rome's Tourist Department under the patronage of: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Econonomic Development and the ICE - Italian Institude for Foreign Trade. During the Roma International Film Festival on next November 2011 we will present the first meeting point in Europe between tourism and cinema industry: a new appointment for the promotion of territories through cinema and television productions. The first-of-a-kind and typology in Europe for the services offered, BIL is set to be real a "exchange" not only to promote agreements between movie industry and the territories but also to represent an extraordinary opportunity to exchange experiences and an ideal context in which to develop events, conferences and workshops dedicated to professionals in this sector. BIL is also closely linked to the new phenomenon known as "movie induced tourism". This is the kind of tourism that inspires the traveller to visit the places that have been seen in a movie, TV series or a documentary. Once it has been seen by an audience this same place gains the potential to become a trourist destination.
