The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Borderlands Film Festival

Boskovice

Cultural festival in Moravian city Boskovice is focused on saving and restoring of local Jewish quarter. The International Competition of First and Second Feature Films forms the main program section of the Festival. Only films which meet the following requirements are eligible to enter the competition: these films must have been made and distributed on 35mm film as a professional or independent production, with an overall length exceeding 60 minutes. They should not have been made or premiered more than two years prior to the Festival. Only film prints in good technical condition, in English or with English subtitles, are eligible.

The International Braunschweig Film Festival, the film festival with the longest tradition in Lower Saxony, has been a constant feature of regional and supraregional cultural life here for 19 years now. Brussels Independent Film Festival

The Festival du Film Indépendant shows 100 films or videos from 60 different countries, including many European or world premieres and special screenings. Born in 1974 from the Super8 movement, it has since become open to many other formats. The aim of the festival is to allow all filmmakers that do not fit the classical canvas of visual media to find a place of expression. In 1992, the festival for the first time opened an international competition for films by deaf directors and in 2003 added a competition for films directed by hearing directors about the world of the deaf.
