The festival Bra International Short Film Festival is dedicated to European short films - fiction, documentary and animated films of up to 30 minutes running time. The programme features approx. 100 short films in competition and almost twenty other films that are screened out of competition. The festival also hosts the Slow Food on Film, a short/documentary film competition that wants to promote films featuring an original topic related to food and gastronomic memories as a patrimony to save.

The Cinema Novo Film Festival was founded in 1984. It was then called the Third World Film Festival. Since 1991 the festival has been organized under its current name. The aim of the festival is to contribute to the construction of a new image of the developing countries. An independent jury awards a prize to one of the nine films in competition that have not been released in Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg. Films from Africa, Asia and Latin America are included in the competition. The prize consists of a grant to the Belgian distributor who purchases the winning film and releases it in Belgium. The festival has grown into a festive and wide-ranging film event featuring over 60 films, 180 screenings, which attract 18.500 visitors from Belgium and abroad.

The Cinema Science Festival places the spotlight on science, cinema and the imagination. With widespread appeal, the first edition of the Cinema Science Festival in 2008 looked at the various forms that scientific research explores as seen through feature-length fiction films from all over the world, some as yet unreleased in cinemas, others rediscovered for this occasion. The Documentary & Experimental Film Center (DEFC) organizes "Cinema Vérité" Iran International Documentary Film Festival, in Tehran, Iran. The festival explores the relationship between reality and truth through documentary films.

The CinemAfrica Film Festival is organized by CinemAfrica, a non-profit film association with the main purpose to promote films from Africa made by Africans. CinemAfrica wants to show Africa through African eyes and enlighten viewers about the complex reality of contemporary Africa. The festival is based in Stockholm and it is a biennial event; it presents some 30 African feature, documentary and short films. Besides screenings, CinemAfrica arranges seminars and talks with invited guests.

The festival presents full-length feature and short films aimed at 4-18 year-olds. Additional activities include workshops in various aspects of film-making, discussions, masterclasses, competition of films by children, etc.

CinemAmbiente began in Turin in 1998, with the ambition of promoting environmental culture through cinema. The festival presents the best films of the year as well as tributes to great documentary filmmakers, debates and other related events. Circuito Off - Venice International Short Film Festival is the first festival in Venice to be entirely dedicated to short films. The festival was launched in 2000, initially as an alternative side event to the official International Film Festival of Venice, and as a venue to showcase promising new directors of short films. The Festival aims to promote quality short fiction films. Among its goals there are the discovery of new talents and showing their films, with particular regard to all those films which deal with social and youth themes. The festival has an International and a National Competition. The competitions are open and free for all who want to submit a film for the preview. The Festival also propose retrospectives and special programmes. The Festival is a founder member of the European Coordination of Film Festivals (ECFF) and Italian Association of Film Festival (AFIC). Films shot on print must not exceed a length of 29 minutes. Films shot on video must not exceed a length of 15 minutes.

City of Women was first organised in 1995. The festival presents women artists from Slovenia and abroad working in different disciplines and contexts. Over the 14 days of the festival, it presents some 30 events, including film, video, theatre, visual arts, performance art, dance, literature and multimedia. As a trans-disciplinary festival, it has a rather experimental profile, welcoming artists who experiment with, blur or cross the boundaries of genres. It introduces an annual theme of artistic, cultural or socio-political relevance, inviting scholars from the fields of cultural and gender studies, to address these issues.

The Navarcles International Film Festival of Solidarity presents feature and short films that focus on a particular social issue. The festival organizes a competiton of short films; the subject of submitted short films (max. 22 minutes) must deal with human rights, civil rights or cinema of solidarity.

One of the largest regional film festivals in the USA, the CIFF features 300 new films from over 80 countries. The 34th CIFF welcomed over 71,000 film-goers - an increase of 100% since 2003. The festival includes a competition for Central & Eastern European Film with a cash prize of $10,000. The CIFF also has a documentary competition, and a competition for Social Justice and Activist films, along with numerous short film awards, the CIFF annually awards over $30,000.

Every year the jury selects outstanding productions for our festival sections TopTen, Look, Kino and Showcases. The best contribution of the sections will be awarded 10.000 Euros. The TopTen Section screens the ten best films from the international television production scene. The Look Section presents visually extraordinary film and television productions. The Kino section offers a selection of outstanding international cinema highlights.
