The Festival takes place every year and it promotes documentaries that follow the principle that the purpose of filmmakers is to create their own world and to reflect reality. The International Competition includes Debut Film International Competition, National Competition “Documentary Films of Russia” and Special Screenings. The following films may take part in the International and International Debut Competitions: Documentary (max duration 120 min), short and animated films (max duration 40 min). The following films may take part in the National Competition: “Documentary Films of Russia”, Documentary (max duration 120 min) films that are produced in Russian Federation.

Mezipatra - Czech Gay and Lesbian Film Festival is a competitive festival and seeks works of the following categories - Narrative Features and Shorts. The festival will present also Documentary Films. We seek films that deal with gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or intrasexual issues.

The Midnight Sun Film Festival is a non-competitive event, founded in 1986 by Finnish filmmakers, e.g. the Kaurismäki brothers, and the Municipality of Sodankylä. The town of Sodankylä is located in the heart of Finnish Lapland, some 120 km above the Arctic Circle, where the sun does not set at all in the summer. Films are screened in three venues for 24 hours a day. The festival can loosely be divided in three sections: films by the most famous film directors of all times, pearls of the new cinema and silent movies with live music. Every year the festival is attended also by the best contemporary directors, professionals from Finland and other countries, 150 - 200 members of the press, and 22000 - 27000 visitors. The Festival of African, Asian and Latin American Cinema is an opportunity to meet and become acquainted with the themes and languages of new cinematic regions which are, for the most part, unknown to Italian audiences. The presence at the festival of directors from the three continents represents an opportunity of professional exchange with professional operators from Italy and Europe, as well as the opportunity to stimulate coproductions. By involving the cinemas of Asia and Latin America, there is the ambition to give a new boost to African cinema. The festival has seven main sections: 1 “Windows on the world” - features by directors from Africa, Asia and Latin America; 2 African Short Film Competition; 3 African Documentary and Non Fiction Competition; 4 Panorama of African Cinema; 5 Non-competitive Section; 6 Retrospective Section; 7 Student Films.

The Milan International Film Festival (MIFF) is an international cinema exhibition. Each year, MIFF selects an eclectic pool of exceptional Independent films from all over the world. Founded in 2000, MIFF’s been conceived with a steadfast mission to encourage and support the progress of independent films around the globe. MIFF also showcases a selction of winning and best received works of the year’s Milan competition during the annual “MIFF’s Best” celebration at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles, thereby facilitating further exposure for the awarded films in Hollywood territory. The festival has the following sections: Feature Film Competition, Short Film Competition (max. 30 minutes), Feature Films Out of Competition.

The Milano Film Festival was established in 1996 and has two main competitions - for feature and short films. The festival gives special attention to young filmmakers who are able to experiment with any aspect of the filmmaking process. The programme includes also out-of-competition screenings, focus, and other side events. The Democratic Film Exchange is a film market that takes place at the time of the festival, and aims to bring together filmmakers and industry professionals.

Founded in 1978, the festival has established an impressive track record for launching careers and new films - particularly those that have not yet secured USA distribution. Presented by the California Film Institute (CFI), the 11-day festival sells over 40,000 tickets and welcomes more than 200 filmmakers from around the world. Audience Awards for best dramatic and documentary feature offer another means to help filmmakers secure additional publicity and potential distribution for their film projects.

Minimalen is an annual, independent short film event, covering new international releases and classics, as well as first time screenings of new Norwegian shorts. The festival has a low budget competition for national participants, while international contributions are screened in panorama programmes. The festival has around 2000 attendants, and 160 different shorts are screened during three days. Entries for the international competition only on invitation.

The Festival was created as an answer to the huge production of cinema and TV movies as well as television programmes inspired by the catholic confession. The media have a strong influence on people's moral values. In the historical moment we live, the spirituality is a necessity. There is a personal spirituality, a social one (ethics is a face of it), a philosophical one. But there is also a spirituality that we reach through the entertainment. A film is a way of evangelization.

Our objective continues to be the same as the one that encouraged us at the beginning: to offer, not so much the reality in which the citizens live – reality always is better than any interpretation however deep it may be- but rather the set of perceptions through which those same citizens find their place in a difficult, varied and complex world. In this sense, the accumulated experience throughout the first two years has led us to insist on two values which, in some way, we feel have been consolidated through Docusur and which now we are beginning to defend as Miradas-Doc. In the first place, the real interest that there is all over the world in recounting the events of the human being in the most varied territories and problems. The festival also organizes the MiradasDoc Market.

The Molins de Rei Festival of Horror Films (Festival de Cine de Terror de Molins de Rei) opens a competition of shorts (max. 25 minutes) in the genre of horror and gore. The jury will select three short films that will receive the prize money of, respectively, Euro 1,300 (best short film), 700 and 300 (special effects and makeup).

MOLODIST Kiev IFF is dedicated to first professional and student films. The out-of-competition programme includes several informative sections that are dedicated to the cinema in Ukraine, Eastern Europe and Russia as well as to films awarded at other festivals. The Molodist Film Market is organized as part of the festival. Kyiv International Film Festival Molodist is held in Kyiv annually last week of October. It commenced its activity in 1970. It was a local festival in which participated young students of the cinematographic faculty of Kyiv National Institute of theatre arts named after Karpenko-Karyi. Festival’s main goal is to find and to discover help young talents to occupy a fitting place in contemporary cinema process. «Molodist» is a specialized festival aimed to support the cinema of the young directors. The Monterrey International Film Festival has become one of the most important cultural events in Mexico. The Valencian Mostra cinema festival Mediterranean Cinema has started a new stage with important changes in its contents and with the proposal of being held inside one of the first cinema events celebrated in our country and to continue promoting cinema from Mediterranean countries on an international level.

Motovun Film Festival is fully dedicated to the presentation of films made in smaller and independent production companies, and shows films that have compelled respect with their innovations, ideas and the strength of their story. The festival takes place in the streets and squares of a beautiful medieval small town, with open-air showings. Mountainfilm is America’s premier festival celebrating achievement in mountain, adventure, culture and environment. We accept and screen films - doc and narrative, feature and short - on a broad range of subjects.

The festival is divided into four sections: Air, Earth, Water, and Rock. Its main aim is to watch the beauty of mountains, climbing and hiking recorded on films, slides, photographs and in interviews with travellers. In addition to the Main Prize, the Prize of the Jury, the Prize of the Audience, and the Prize to the Best Film is awarded in each category.

Since 1995 this film event is a platform for committed film productions about human rights and human dignity. The festival screens both documentaries and feature films. MUJERDOC aims to be a platform for the exhibition of DOCUMENTARIES that contribute to the promotion of the equal possibilities of men and women. The access of women to the social, civil, political and sexual rights; the equality of opportunities; the defense of the different cultures between people, the stereotypes and roles associated to women in the sexist social model; the oppression practiced by some religions against the freedom to choose and the freedom of sexual identity…these are the topics that festival’s first edition brought up.

The International Festival of Film Schools was established in 1981. It is now one of the most important festivals for young filmmakers in the world. More than 3 200 films have been presented at the festival since its inception. More than 2 000 foreign students and professors have had opportunities to meet, enter into discussions and share their experiences with each other. Every year students from 35 film schools submit more than 50 films.

Munich International Short Film Festival is an independent festival that wants to promote the genre of short film. The programme consists of Competition Section and Friends & Family Program. The latter is by invitation only and cannot be applied for. The competition is meant to present artistic developments, especially new innovations, in the short film production regardless of national representation. Films of all genres are accepted but the running time must not exceed 15 minutes.
