www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

The Russian Anthropological Film Festival is a biennial competitive film festival. The festival program is formed of the anthropological (mostly documentary) films, created by directors from Russia and other countries. Festival prizes: the best film, the best director, the best anthropologist, special prizes of the Jury, prizes of sponsors. RAFF focuses on man in culture and culture in man. Its formula art+science unites filmmakers and researchers expressing by film-language the peculiarity and diversity of the cultural values, it’s important link between film makers and anthropologists of Russia and other countries. Films and videos of high value and quality, recording human activities in social, historical or ecological context are accepted for competition screenings. Films of high level creativity, a rigorous scientific content or of new forms of audiovisual expression will be preferred.

European Film Forum “Scanorama” is the festival of discoveries. Not only popular and famous films but also new names, new creations, new ideas, new stylistics, the opportunity to discover something that will never be shown elsewhere. The selection of films in “Scanorama” is based on professional criteria and not only personal preferences (“liked-disliked”), it is performed in a way that allows to envision, foresee, and reveal the tendencies that are most significant in the process of contemporary European cinema and the general context of film history. Each year “Scanorama” opens a new layer of classics searching for meaningful links to what is happening here and now. By means of conceptual programmes European Film Forum “Scanorama” provokes the dialogue between tradition and innovation. While culturally crossing the whole Europe this Film Forum helps to discover, explore and understand the diversity of Europe and perceive oneself as the part of it. “Scanorama” is a clear concept of film display, professional film selection, elaborate and original retrospectives, new special programmes each year, interesting guests, and thoughtful discussions. The Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF), held annually in Seattle, Washington, is purported to be the largest film festival in the United States and among the top film festivals in the world. Over the years, the SIFF audiences have developed a reputation for appreciating films that did not fit standard industry niches. The festival includes a sidebar that is probably unique among major film festivals: a four-film Secret Festival.
