The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Storydoc is a training programme with the focus on the development of documentary projects. The Projects wanted should have a strong Mediterranean connection. The call is open to filmmakers from the Region, other filmmakers with a project that deals with the area as well as to Palestinian and other filmmakers from the region. 20 projects will be selected, plus 5 from Greece and STORYDOC will offer 5 scholarships to the selected projects. The selected creative documentary projects will be developed through two sessions tutored by experienced documentary directors, commissioning editors, producers, editors and generalists. At the second session pitching will be organized to extra 10-15 commissioning editors and distributors.

Founded in 1998 by the Council for Cultural Affairs of the Executive Yuan, Taiwan International Documentary Festival (TIDF) celebrates its fourth showing and invites independent filmmakers from Taiwan and around the globe to the competition. The aim of the TECHFILM festival is to collect, present, award and make accessible the latest programmes from the fields of science, technology and arts as well as multimedia and e-learning products contributing to a better education. The Festival programme comprises also on request screenings, seminars for experts, special cinema performances and other accompanying events. The TECHNÉ OSTRAVA Festival was established in 2002 owing to the need to promote the issues and necessity of protection of technical and industrial monuments as an integral part of our, as well as, European cultural heritage. TECHNÉ OSTRAVA is organized in a city with a rich industrial tradition where, spread over a small area, numerous monuments of industrial architecture and technical sights are concentrated, documenting the industrial revolution affecting the face of the city, in particular during the 19th and 20th centuries. In addition to the significantly technical element, the festival entails a strong cultural charge. TECHNÉ OSTRAVA 2009 is going to focus, both with regards to the scientific colloquium and the structure of the films and TV documentaries shown, on the Protection of Technical and Industrial Heritage and the Possibilities of its New Use.
