www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

The platform has been founded in 2001 and is supported by the Austrian Ministry for Science and Research (BM.W_F) and the University of Vienna. Questions, propositions, critique, as well as submissions are welcome at redaktion@kakanien.ac.at. KODA is a Danish society that administers Danish and international copyrights for composers, songwriters and music publishers, when their musical works are performed in public. Krakow Film Foundation

The activity of the Krakow Film Foundation, which began in 2003, focuses mainly on the organization of two important film events: the Krakow Film Festival, the Krakow Film Market and co-organization of Dragon Forum – documentary pitching held during the Krakow Film Festival. In 2006 KFF created Film Promotion Agency which promotes Polish documentary, animated and short films in Europe and in the world. The next year KFF introduced a new project called Polish Docs which main aim is offering a set of new Polish documentaries to film professionals and preparing promotional events at major documentary festivals and markets. In 2009 KFF was awarded the Polish Film Institute Prize for international promotion of Polish film.

Kvadrat - Centre for Visual Communications

Centre for Visual Communications KVADRAT is a film production and education firm. It is run by Svetlana and Zoran Popovic, both film directors, producers and professors. KVADRAT first started documentary workshops for film students and young film makers during nineties in former Yugoslavia. Since 1994 more then one hundred short documentaries have been made. Some of these films were among the most succesful in Serbian film production on national and international festivals in the last decade. KVADRAT’s activities influenced contemporary Serbian productions and aesthetic of young Serbian documentary makers. KVADRAT became one of the first members of EDN (European Documentary Network) from Serbia. In collaboration with the first director of EDN, Mr. Tue Steen Muller, and Sava Centar, KVADRAT has started the first European feature documentary film festival in Serbia – The Magnificent Seven - in 2005.

The Archive was founded in 1963 on the basis of the collection of the Department of the photo-documents of Latvia State Historical Archive. The depositories of the Archive contain approximately 24 thousand films dated from 1910 till nowadays. The Archive keeps more then 508 thousand photo records, the first one being dated from 1865. The number of sound recordings exceeds a little bit more than and 30 thousand units. The collection is constantly increasing due to the close co-operation with mass media of Latvia and other producers of audio-visual records.

Latvian Filmmakers Union is a nation-wide public organization uniting professional filmmakers and craftsmen. Its main objective is to represent and defend their professional and social interests. Almost 40 years this organization unites the Latvian filmmakers. Many of them have been awarded in domestic and international film festivals. To avoid hurting their self-respect, they are mentioned in the abstract alphabetic order: Aloizs Brencs, Hercs Franks, Talivaldis Margevics, Ivars Seleckis, Davis Simanis, Janis Streics. The late Juris Podnieks and Andris Slapins also were members of the Filmmakers Union.
