The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision was established in 1997 as the result of a merger between three large audiovisual archives and the Broadcast Museum. Substantial collections of radio and television programmes, documentaries, commercials, amateur films, photographs and music are all to be found at this institute. The major collection currently held is that of the (Dutch) public broadcasters, the magnitude of which increases daily. Sound and Vision is a private foundation and has almost 200 employees.

The Dutch Institute for Film Education (Nederlands Instituut voor Filmeducatie - NIF) is a national organisation founded in September 2001. Kijkwijzer does this firstly by giving an age recommendation: All Ages, 6 years, 12 years and 16 years. Netherlands Society of Cinematographers

The Netherlands Society of Cinematographers is a society with the aim to support its members creatively, technically and socially within their working environment. The NSC was established in 1994 by a group of Dutch directors of photography: Theo Bierkens, Paul van de Bos and Jules van den Steenhoven. The level of interest amongst the profession has been high ever since. The majority of Dutch directors of photography, whether working in the Netherlands or abroad, are now NSC active or associated members. Active membership is by invitation of those directors of photography who have demonstrated the qualities of their profession and all our members work by our NSC Code of Honour. Cinematography is more than making pretty pictures!

Noosfera Foundation

The “Noosfera Foundation” is committed to film education and to civic education through film screenings and debates. The foundation was established by the Georgian filmmaker Artchil Khetagouri. Artchil studied in the Directing Class of the Netherlands Film and Television Academy. He directed several shorts and documentaries, like “Shining Shoes”, broadcast on YLE/Finland and the short fiction: “Heritage”, which premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival, won several awards and was the Netherlands selection for the student Oscar.

The Archive cares for over 31,000 items from the pioneer days of film in the mid 1890s to video production of the present day. The work of both the professional and the amateur is collected. The North West Film Archive is interested in acquiring film or video footage featuring people, places, events and activities in Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire. Northern Film and Media Foundation

The POEM Foundation is an audiovisual production resource centre. The foundation provides grants for scriptwriting, as well as interest-free loans and investment funding for development and production. In addition, the POEM Foundation allocates funding for projects developing the operating environment and entrepreneurial activity or services in the audiovisual sector. The North Finland Film Commission (NFFC) functions as a part of The POEM Foundation. NFFC provides production services for domestic and international productions. The POEM Foundation coordinates the development of cultural activities in the film and audiovisual sector in the Oulu audiovisual network. The network consists of Oulu Music Video Festival, Oulu Film Center, Nuku Film School and the Science Centre Tietomaa.

Norwaco
