Studio F.O.R.M.A was founded in 1993. Its primary focus – development, production and co-production of quality fiction feature films.
Studio F.O.R.M.A. started production with industrial films and gradually moved into documentaries and fiction feature production. First big screen success was Estonian-Latvian feature GOOD HANDS (dir. Peeter Simm). It premiered in Berlinale’s Panorama section and won the Manfred Salzgeber Prize. A successful life on the film festival circuit with more than 30 locations around the world as well as several other prizes followed.
The biggest success to date is Latvian-Estonian co-production, the family feature WATERBOMB FOR THE FAT TOMCAT (dir. Varis Brasla). After its release the film ranked no. 1 at the national box office for four consecutive weeks and became the most successful European production of the year in Latvia. It has travelled the world to some 40 film festivals and received prizes in such different locations as Chicago (USA), Taiwan and Russia.
The new challenge is move into the bigger European film scene. It has started with successful financing and production of family adventure LITTLE ROBBERS (dir. Armands Zvirbulis) featuring Karl Markovics (star of Foreign language Acdemy Award 2008 winner The Counterfeiter). It is the first ever Latvian fiction feature majority co-production (with MINI FILM, Austria) outside the Baltic States. Film is set for national release during spring school holiday 2009.

We distribute programmes for some of the world's leading broadcasters and independent producers in current affairs programming. We provide in-depth reports on topical issues and often provide an insight into lesser-known subjects.
SWPictures is based at a large facilities house in west London which produces programmes for broadcasters all over the world. We have the in-house expertise that enables us to assist and produce programming for broadcasters.
The company's founder and director, Scott White, is a journalist by profession. Until a few years ago, as an independent producer, he travelled to the 'hotspots' of the world filming, originally on Hi-8, some of the world's worst conflicts and revealing, through clandestine filming, the grubby activities of rogue regimes and companies. These films were sold to many broadcasters and used on their weekly or nightly magazine programmes.
But in 1994 this time as a travelling journalist ended abruptly when Scott was shot, and his cameraman killed, while filming a documentary in Algeria.
Realising that his days of filming in war zones were at an end, he turned his skills to distributing other people's reports to the vast network of broadcasters, which he had supplied as an independent producer. The direct lines of communication which he built up with programme editors and the experience he gained as an independent producer, have proved invaluable to the distribution business, both in raising commissions and selling off-the-shelf reports.
SWPictures is now one of the premier international distributors of current affairs programming, with new reports available weekly and an extensive library on our website.
