The Cinema Novo Film Festival was founded in 1984. It was then called the Third World Film Festival. Since 1991 the festival has been organized under its current name. The aim of the festival is to contribute to the construction of a new image of the developing countries. An independent jury awards a prize to one of the nine films in competition that have not been released in Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg. Films from Africa, Asia and Latin America are included in the competition. The prize consists of a grant to the Belgian distributor who purchases the winning film and releases it in Belgium. The festival has grown into a festive and wide-ranging film event featuring over 60 films, 180 screenings, which attract 18.500 visitors from Belgium and abroad.

The Cinema Science Festival places the spotlight on science, cinema and the imagination. With widespread appeal, the first edition of the Cinema Science Festival in 2008 looked at the various forms that scientific research explores as seen through feature-length fiction films from all over the world, some as yet unreleased in cinemas, others rediscovered for this occasion. One of the most creative events where science meets fiction, filmmakers meet scientists, and the public explores fascinating stories and science knowledge.

The Cinema Theatre Association was started in 1967 to preserve and promote movie palaces of the Twenties and Thirties which were then starting to disappear from our towns and cities. Since then, the Association has widened its horizons to encompass the study of all cinema buildings and other entertainment buildings.

The Documentary & Experimental Film Center (DEFC) organizes "Cinema Vérité" Iran International Documentary Film Festival, in Tehran, Iran. The festival explores the relationship between reality and truth through documentary films.

Cinéma Wallonie is an association of independent film and audiovisual producers from the Wallonia Region.

The CinemAfrica Film Festival is organized by CinemAfrica, a non-profit film association with the main purpose to promote films from Africa made by Africans. CinemAfrica wants to show Africa through African eyes and enlighten viewers about the complex reality of contemporary Africa. The festival is based in Stockholm and it is a biennial event; it presents some 30 African feature, documentary and short films. Besides screenings, CinemAfrica arranges seminars and talks with invited guests.

The festival presents full-length feature and short films aimed at 4-18 year-olds. Additional activities include workshops in various aspects of film-making, discussions, masterclasses, competition of films by children, etc.

Aim: To support the diversity of the cinematographic offer by improving the presence and the visibility of Latin-American cinematography in Europe and European cinematography in Latin-America through a training program and a matching up between professionals of diffusion of both continents.

CinemAmbiente began in Turin in 1998, with the ambition of promoting environmental culture through cinema. The festival presents the best films of the year as well as tributes to great documentary filmmakers, debates and other related events. Environmental films are not only television-style documentaries, but animation films on pollution, enquiries into deforesting and ecological imbalance, as well as war films and poetical productions. There are three competition sections: International documentary competition, Italian film competition and International animation film competition.

Feature films not yet released in Bulgaria. The festival is a non-competitive event.

CineMark is a production company founded in Georgia in February 2012. Its aim is to shoot and promote documentary films on actual social issues in the country. CineMark has 6 founding members, including both directors and producers. The company currently (December 2012) has 3 work-in-progress projects.

Distributor

The International Film Festival Rotterdam launched CineMart more than 25 years ago as a regular film market. However, it quickly became apparent that there was a greater need for a new kind of platform to present projects looking for additional financing. With that in mind, the IFFR remodelled CineMart as an effective co-production market, the first of its kind. Throughout its history, CineMart has proven to be an integral part of the film industry, providing an indispensable platform to support the realization of new film projects and heralding the start of each new film year. The formula of introducing projects to potential co-producers, sales agents, television buyers, distributors and financiers in one-on-one meetings has proven to be so effective that many festivals have used the same blueprint to create their own co-production markets.

Cinemart Ltd. was founded in 1990. Our main profile as a production company is documentaries, but has produced several feature films and tv-films aswell. Cinemart Ltd. is also a service company for other production companies. We are also very proud of our recent film, the musical-comedy ’Made in Hungária’, which became the most successful Hungarian film in 2009. We are also glad to have worked on some European co-productions, including with companies in Germany, Austria, Romania and Georgia.

Cinemart was founded in 1992. It distributes European independent productions, Czech films and documentaries. Offers co-productions as well.

Production company

The festival was first held in 2004 and it is a biennial event. The programme wants to introduce contemporary Asian cinema in its diversity, and also wants to support young Dutch-Asian filmmakers. The CinemAsia Film Festival organizes Film Lab to stimulate the production of Dutch Asian movies. Three young Dutch moviemakers with an Asian background - selected from all submitted entries - get 1000 euro each to make a short movie which will be screened and discussed at the festival.

CinemaStar Ltd. was founded in 1999 by the production company Europa 2000 and leading Hungarian distributor Budapest Film, as an independent production and distribution company. In the following years CinemaStar took an active role in the creation and marketing of severalsuccessful Hungarian movies.The company intends to develop scripts and make motion pictures with a wide box office appeal and a high artistic value, as well as the comedies. Their coproduction partners are European companies and television stations, working for the growing markets of the new Europe.

Cinemateca Portuguesa / Museu Do Cinema has two basement cinemas, museum area, permanent and temporary exhibition rooms, photo archive, and runs a restaurant and a bookshop. The institution organizes film screenings, exhibitions and seminars, and maintains a large collection of films, books and film materials that are stored in other departments of the institution, namely in ANIM - National Moving Images Archive Department (film collection) and in the Documentation and Information Centre (collection of books, newspaper clippings, posters, photographs, etc.).

The aim of the French Cinematheque is to maintain the collection of film material (40 000 films, 4000 film equipment items, 1000 costumes); to restore classical films and make them accessible to public; to use the facilities of the film library for film-related exhibitions, screenings and educational projects that help to promote the art of the moving image.
