The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

CROSSROADS is the Co-Production Forum, organized by the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. Its goal is to support the producers of feature-length fiction film projects that originate from and/or deal with the Mediterranean, Central and South-eastern Europe regions. Qualifying features should be produced or co-produced by a country in this area or contain story elements from the aforementioned regions. Mediterranean and European producers with a feature film script are given the chance to encounter a new network of financiers, co-producers and leading industry specialists. The programme is varied and provides the opportunity to meet, formally and informally, distributors, broadcasters, sales agents and consultants. Countries that are eligible to submit are: Albania, Algeria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, FYROM, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Montenegro, Morocco, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey.

Vilnius Film Shorts + Baltic Pitching Forum

International Short Film Festival VILNIUS FILM SHORTS is the biggest short film festival in Baltic countries, presenting the newest and best short films from all around the world. In nine years the Festival became a unique platform in Lithuania, screening not only European but Worldwide professional short films presented by the upcoming generation of talented filmmakers. Every year VILNIUS FILM SHORTS offers the international short film competition program, which consists of around 60 most acknowledged short films produced during the last two years. The films are considered and awarded by the International Jury. A huge focus on Lithuanian short films is always presented to the audience – every year a special program of newest, retrospective, thematic or specific filmmaker based program is on board. The professionals visiting the festival are also welcome in a two-day industry event – BALTIC PITCHING FORUM, where Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian filmmakers present their short film projects to the international panel board.

Visions du Réel: Pitching du Réel

Since its creation, the purpose of Pitching du Réel is to help launch projects with artistic ambition and potential in the principal distribution markets. It is intended for young as well as experienced and acknowledged filmmakers. 15 projects will be presented publicly then discussed in round-table sessions and in one-to-one meetings. The round-table discussions take place in the presence of professionals including commissioning editors, producers, and distributors active in national and international markets or in digital promotion, as well as a variety of financial partners: Public and private institutions, NGOs, contemporary art curators and foundations.

Wildscreen - International Wildlife and Environmental Film Festival

The Wildscreen Festival was founded by Sir Peter Scott in 1982 and has been organised every other year for the past 25 years. The main components of the Festival are the innovative key events, the Panda Awards and trade show.

As in previous years, ZagrebDox, the international documentary film festival, is organizing ZagrebDox Pro for authors and producers of documentary films. ZAGREBDOX PRO is a five-day programme that includes a three day workshop and a pitching forum on the fourth day for twelve documentary projects in various phases of development/production and on the fifth day THE INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION DAY dedicated to networking. During that day, participants are going to have individual meetings with decision makers (TV editors, distributors, producers, representatives of film funds) and scriptwriting advisors. Leena Pasanen and Stefano Tealdi are the workshop facilitators and Pitching Forum moderators.
