The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

A one-of-a-kind event in Europe, Geneva International Film Festival/Festival Tous Ecrans has been providing a regular overview of the best films, TV series, works of fiction and interactive documentaries since 1995. Iconoclastic, subversive and visionary, the festival was one of the first to screen made-for-television works of renowned filmmakers, to bring TV series to the public and to host a competition dedicated to transmedia works. Today, it has become a major rendezvous for contemporary audio-visual creation. Two prizes are awarded for transmedia works: the Reflet d’Or for Best Transmedia Work and the Youth Jury Award for Best Transmedia Work.

CinemAmbiente began in Turin in 1998, with the ambition of promoting environmental culture through cinema. CinemAsia Film Festival

The festival was first held in 2004 and it is a biennial event. The programme wants to introduce contemporary Asian cinema in its diversity, and also wants to support young Dutch-Asian filmmakers. The CinemAsia Film Festival organizes Film Lab to stimulate the production of Dutch Asian movies. Three young Dutch moviemakers with an Asian background - selected from all submitted entries - get 1000 euro each to make a short movie which will be screened and discussed at the festival.

The Mediterranean Film Festival was founded in 1979 by the enthusiasts running Ciné-club Jean-Vigo, a Montpellier film club that has been extremely active since the mid-1950s. The Montpellier festival has a cultural purpose consisting of knowledge of the cinema of the Mediterranean zone, the Black Sea, Portugal and Armenia. In a spirit of tolerance, it enhances discussion, seminars and studies on the common components that link these cinemas.

The Festival aims to promote quality short fiction films. City of Women was first organised in 1995. The festival presents women artists from Slovenia and abroad working in different disciplines and contexts. Over the 14 days of the festival, it presents some 30 events, including film, video, theatre, visual arts, performance art, dance, literature and multimedia. As a trans-disciplinary festival, it has a rather experimental profile, welcoming artists who experiment with, blur or cross the boundaries of genres. It introduces an annual theme of artistic, cultural or socio-political relevance, inviting scholars from the fields of cultural and gender studies, to address these issues.

Cleveland International Film Festival
