European Films Crossing Borders is a series of two and a half day workshops, supported by the MEDIA TRAINING Programme of the European Union, EURIMAGES (Council of Europe), the French Ambassy in Spain, Marché du Film and Short Film Corner (Cannes International Film Festival), San Sebastián International Film Festival and VARIETY, taking place within the unique setting of major European film festivals. The programme is aimed at 25 European film industry professionals per seminar: producers, executives, managers, distributors, directors and scriptwriters, and those working within the film industry coming from Europe and MEDIA enlargement new members. More than a training programme, European Films Crossing Borders is a great way to meet the best experts from all over Europe, finding co-producers, financing, learning the techniques to defend your project in European markets and establishing new professional contacts.

The European Institute of Cinema Karlsruhe is an independent institute affiliated with the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG - Academy of Creative Design). Established in 2002, Ekofilm is a civil association that co-organizes, promotes and supports Ekofilm - International Film Festival on the Environment and Natural and Cultural Heritage.

The oldest European film festival on the environment was founded in 1974 as a contribution to the World Environmental Day declared by UN. The aim of the festival is to present new films and video programmes that reshape our perception of our environment through natural and cultural heritage in a local or global fashion. Ekofilm provides an opportunity for the interested public to meet filmmakers, experts and government officials. The festival programme contains the following sections: international competition of films and videos, informative screening of films that are not part of the competition, presentations for schools, optional screening of all competing films, specialist and creative workshops, and other related events. All films and videos registered for the competition focus on the protection of nature and landscape, and natural and cultural heritage. This includes the protection of historical sites, and changes in production or consumption patterns that lead to a healthy life

The festival, organized annually, concentrates on various fields of human activities (industry, economy, arts) underlining permanently sustainable life. The presented programs offer high quality audiovisual works from all over the world. All the events are free of charge.

Ekran reports on network news conference for the documentary in the countries of former Yugoslavia, which took place in Kinodvoru (institutions see above). Purpose and sense of cooperation introduced Sertić Oliver, founder of production company Restart, which is dedicated to video activism, documentary production and training documents. Network to link distributors and more countries to make rational purchase rights for several countries and thus give more opportunities for documentary film in the ex-Yugoslav cinema.

The European training programme EKRAN is a collaborative project between the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing, FOCAL (Switzerland), the Norwegian Film Institute, the Filmstiftung Nordrhein-Westfalen, the internationale film schule Köln (Germany), the Netherlands Film Institute and University of Film and Theatrical Art from Budapest (Hungary), with support of Polish Film Institute and MEDIA EU Programme. EKRAN (the Polish word for “screen”) is an international training program focusing on the creative pre-production process based on shooting practice. EKRAN focuses participants on exploring, identifying and refining the tone and visual language of film. As the creative pre-production process is based on teamwork, EKRAN includes each of the key creative roles in its training curriculum. Every participating project is therefore represented by a Creative Team consisting of a director (or writer/director), a writer (or co-writer), a producer and, optionally, a director of photography. EKRAN trains directors not only to develop each aspect of their Projects, but also to tighten the collaborative working process with the writer/co-writer, producer and DOP. EKRAN is also a brilliant and unique opportunity for producers to develop their project using the most cost effective and creatively concentrated methods. EKRAN offers to participants a production component prepared in close collaboration with EAVE; one of the best programs for producers available in Europe. The EKRAN training component for producers focuses on creative aspects of film production.
