The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Belarusian State Academy of Arts

The Belarusian State Academy of Arts is the only higher educational establishment in Belarus that trains specialists in the branch of theater, fine arts, decorative-applied, cinema and television art and design. It was established on the basis of the Belarusian Theater Institute founded in 1945. At present there are three departments at the Academy. They are Theater Department, Fine Art Department and Design and Decorative-applied Art Department. Besides Belarusian citizens there also study people from foreign countries. Foreign students and post-graduates are trained on the paid (contractual) basis. At Theater Department of the Academy one can receive necessary qualification on 4 professions and 16 narrower specializations within them: Actor’s Art: drama and cinema actor; puppet theater actor; musical theater actor. Stage Direction: drama director; puppet theater director; feature film director; documentary film director; video film director; TV director; sound producer; musical theater director. Theater Science: history and theory of theater; organization and direction of theater activity; cinema and TV Cameraman: cinema cameraman; TV cameraman. The term of studies for acquiring the qualification of actor or cameraman is 4 years, stage director and theatric scientist — 5 years. The academic year begins on September 1. Fine Art Department gives education in the following directions: Painting: easel-painting; theater-decorative painting; cinema artist. Graphics: design and illustration of books; easel-graphics; placard. Sculpture, Monumental-Decorative Art, Art Criticism: fine art; decorative-applied art; integrated art criticism. The term of studies at Fine Art Department is 6 years except for art criticism (5 years). The academic year begins on October 1. At Design and Decorative-applied Art Department one can acquire the following professions and specializations: Design: Industrial Design: design of consumer goods; design of means of industry and transport; furniture design. Design of Objective-Spatial Complexes: interior design. Graphic Design: typographic. Communicative Design: advertising; TV advertising. Design of Costume and Textiles: design of clothing; design of knitwear; design of weaving. Decorative-applied Art: decorative ceramics; decorative glass; decorative metal wares. The term of studies at Design and Decorative-applied Art Department is 5 years. The academic year begins on October 1. The Academy has post-graduate courses for the following qualifications: theater art, TV, cinema and other screen kinds of art, fine and decorative-applied arts and architecture, theory of arts, technical esthetics and design. The term of studies is 3 years for stationary or 4 years for correspondent students. There is the Student Theater and Museum at the Academy. There has also been established a Council for evaluation of the scientific research and awarding Master’s degrees on the specialization of Technical Esthetics and Design. Charles University founded in 1348 is one of the oldest universities in the world and nowadays belongs to the most eminent educational and scientific establishments in the Czech Republic which are recognized in both the European and global context. It is an outstanding cultural institution due to its scientific and pedagogical results and its unique historical tradition. College of Polytechnics Jihlava (VŠPJ) was set up by the law No. č. 375/2004 Col. from 3 June 2004 as the first public college of a non-university type. VŠPJ runs accredited bachelor study programmes ond programmes of life-long education. The general goal of the study of accredited study programmes is to provide applicants with the possibility to get professionally oriented education with strongly practical output. After passing a final state examination and a bachelor work defense a graduate gets a diploma and a bachelor degree (Bc.) along with the possibility of further study in following master programmes or in case of good language knowledge the possibility of study abroad. The study in the accredited study programme "Economy and Management" is daily and lasts 3.5 years. At present, courses "Finance and Management" and "Travel/Tourism" are accredited. The study in the accredited study programme "Electrotechnics and Informatics" is daily and lasts 3 years. The course of "Computer Systems" is accredited. Accreditation of further programmes and courses is proceeding. VŠPJ also runs programmes of life-long education, including the Third Age University. VŠPJ resides in its own building in the centre of the town next to the bus station with a good link to the railway station. The building is adopted for the purposes and needs of the study, among others there are language laboratories, a computer hall, a reading room, a library with more than 30,000 books. Within the premises there are students' hostels with the capacity of 180 places and a canteen offering lunches and dinners. In the academic year 2005/2006, 627 students are studying at VŠPJ.
