The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Iceland International Film Festival

Icelandic Dramatists' Union

The Icelandic Dramatists´ Union is an independent organization of playwrights and scriptwriters in Iceland. Its main purpose is the protection of the artistic, moral and pecuniary rights of its members, and the promotion of contemporary Icelandic playwrighting. The Icelandic Dramatists´ Union is the authorized party to make framework agreements with all theatres in Iceland and jointly with The Writers' Union of Iceland makes other agreements, i. e. with Icelandic radio- and television stations. The Icelandic Film & TV Academy (IKSA) unites the film makers associations in Iceland in co-owned organisation, which aim is to enhance the Icelandic film and TV industry. For pursuing this goal, the Academy operates the EDDA Awards, the annual film and TV awards in Iceland. The EDDA awards are the Icelandic film scene harvesting festival with the aim to encourage professionalism in the industry. Members of the Academy vote on the work and individuals that are awarded each year. The Icelandic Film & TV Academy is a member of Film Academies Network of Europe and is responsible for nominating Iceland’s submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy published for years the industry magazine ‘Land og synir’, with the affiliating website. With a growing number of media focusing on Icelandic film and TV content, the publication was put on hold in fall 2011, mainly due to difficulties in raising funds for the operations. The Icelandic Film & TV Academy was formed in 1999 and the first EDDA Awards where handed out that year. The Academy is a private limited company owned and operated by: Association of Icelandic Film Makers (FK); Association of Icelandic Film Producers (SIK); Film Directors Guild of Iceland (SKL).

Icelandic Film Board

Icelandic Film Centre

The Icelandic Film Centre is required by law to support production, distribution and promotion of Icelandic films, gather information about Icelandic films and publish it, advance film culture in Iceland and encourage stronger links between Icelandic filmmakers and the international film community. In 2003, the Icelandic Film Centre took over all the duties and responsibilities of the former Icelandic Film Fund, apart from running the Film Archive, which became an independent body. Applications for grants are handled by film commissioners and the director will then make the final decision about financial support, based on the conditions set forward in the regulation on the Film Fund. The grants made by the Icelandic Film Fund are divided between the various branches of filmmaking as follows: full-length feature films; documentaries and short films; television fiction.

IDA Documentary Screening Series

DocuWeeks helped to qualify outstanding new feature and short documentaries for Academy Award consideration, by providing its participants with a seven-day commercial theatrical run in Los Angeles County and in the Borough of Manhattan. Starting this year the IDA Documentary Screening Series replaces DocuWeeks. The new screening series will bring some of the year’s best documentary films to IDA members as well as members of AMPAS and industry guilds with the goal of increasing voting participation in the documentary award categories. Each screening will include a Q&A with the filmmakers, which will be recorded and made available on documentary.org, on our YouTube channel, and through the filmmakers themselves.

Identities - Queer Film Festival

With more than 100 films shown every year - most of them Austrian premieres - Identities has become Vienna's second largest international film event. The festival program offers an overview of queer productions on gay and lesbian subjects, and gender issues.
