Centre for Visual Communications KVADRAT is a film production and education firm. It is run by Svetlana and Zoran Popovic, both film directors, producers and professors. KVADRAT first started documentary workshops for film students and young film makers during nineties in former Yugoslavia. Since 1994 more then one hundred short documentaries have been made. Some of these films were among the most succesful in Serbian film production on national and international festivals in the last decade. KVADRAT’s activities influenced contemporary Serbian productions and aesthetic of young Serbian documentary makers. KVADRAT became one of the first members of EDN (European Documentary Network) from Serbia. In collaboration with the first director of EDN, Mr. Tue Steen Muller, and Sava Centar, KVADRAT has started the first European feature documentary film festival in Serbia – The Magnificent Seven - in 2005.

L'Alternativa - Barcelona Independent Film Festival looks for personal, original, experimental and narrative films reflecting the world we live in today. Every year the official section of the festival offers more than 60 international films. Selected films compete in four sections: Short, Feature, Animation and Documentary. Parallel Sections of the festival include retrospectives, tributes to forgotten filmmakers, thematic programmes, work from international film schools, etc. Parallel Activities offer workshops and round tables, and act as a meeting place where ideas can be exchanged, providing a space for filmmakers, spectators, critics and historians to share ideas and take part in debates on various film-related subjects.

La Boia is a joint venture of the spanish Anna Montanyà and Sebastian Schaal from Germany. They founded this small film production having studied together theatre- and film sciences at Humboldt University Berlin. A buoy was the MacGuffin of our first shortfilm.
