www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

World Film Festival is an event dedicated to the documentary cinema. The festival develops interest towards anthropological, analytical approach to cultures and societies, welcoming documentary film entries from all over the world. Our film program turns attention to cultural exchange as well as representations of other cultures and everyday life across the world. Each year, the festival becomes a lively community of filmmakers and the audience. As film screenings are accompanied by a discussions related to the film, the directors of the selected films are preferably present at the festival in order to introduce their films and discuss their works after the screening. Festival does not have competition program. In addition to the film program, the festival involves discussions, exhibitions and special programs.

WorldFest was founded over 50 years ago as Cinema Arts, an International Film Society in August, 1961. WorldFest became the third competitive international film festival in North America, following San Francisco and New York. WorldFest is the oldest Independent Film & Video Festival in the World. It evolved into a competitive International Film Festival in April, 1968. It was founded by award-winning producer/director Hunter Todd to present a quality film festival for the Independent filmmakers. Hunter Todd has been honored with more than 115 international awards for creative excellence in film production, and he has been the producer, director, writer and/or cameraman on more than 300 motion picture and video productions. The mission/vision statement of WorldFest is - to recognize and honor outstanding creative excellence in film & video, to validate brilliant abilities and to promote cultural tourism for Houston, to develop film production in the region and to add to the rich cultural fabric of the city of Houston. All members of the WorldFest staff are filmmakers.

Located in Os, home-base for an internationally renowned sculpture symposium and a nationally beloved Jazz and Blues festival, the WT is the only free film festival in Norway. The festival was founded more than 30 years ago, and presents full-length features, documentaries, children's and short films. The festival programme includes both big studio premieres and new films from the independent scene and is open to every genre. One aspect didn’t change since 1974 by the way: to date the film festival is organized exclusively by voluntary work. Considering 10.000 visitors within four consecutive days, approximately 50 movie screenings and a number of special events, the “Filmwochenende” might claim to be the biggest such event in Germany.

Since the very beginning, Zagreb Film Festival has been programatically focused on the presentation and promotion of debut films and new filmmakers. The main festival competition has so far included directors like Anton Corbijn, Steve McQueen, Radu Jude, Xavier Dolan, Andrei Zviagintsev, Uberto Pasolini, Alexandros Avranas, even George Clooney. The Checkers competition introduced and acquainted the broader audience with new names on the local film scene, later acknowledged not only among national filmmakers, but also on the international festival scene (e.g. Matija Kluković, Juraj Lerotić, Sara Hribar, Hana Jušić, Ivan Sikavica, Sonja Tarokić, Tin Žanić etc.), with a systematic promotion of Croatian short film. Checkers are celebrating their 10th birthday this year with additional events and activities. The Industry section, intended for educational and practical contents is organising a series of workshops, lectures, panels and other programs intended for film professionals, young filmmakers and all the interested participants, covering different aspects of film production.

A film festival dedicated to the Holocaust. Zagreb Jewish Film Fest promotes Jewish culture through its rich film program, screenings, musical events, meetings with world known film directors, producers and actors, thus educating through movies about the Holocaust, tolerance and mutual values being a foundation of happy coexistence in different national and religious surroundings. The film program, divided into two parts, consists of short, documentary and feature movies. The first part are the movies dealing with the Holocaust themes, mostly attuned to the theme the festival is dedicated to, and the second part are night screenings of contemporary Jewish film, mostly of Israeli production.

ZagrebDox - International Documentary Film Festival

The main aim of the festival is to give the local audience an insight into the contemporary documentary production and also to create the place where the audience, filmmakers and other professionals could meet and exchange their views, ideas and discuss future projects. ZagrebDox will put special emphasis on regional production and its authors with long term goal of strengthening and encouraging South East European cooperation, as well as overstepping the gap toward western European documentary producing and co-producing. Apart from a number of non-competing programs, workshops and discussions, there will be two competitions: international and regional (for the films coming from Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatia, Italy, Kosovo, Macedonia, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia and Romania).

Festival Zlatý voči presents films made by audio-visual theory students. It is organised annually by the students of the Department of Film studies at the Philosophical faculty of Charles University. The festival takes place regularly at the end of the summer semester in May. Its goal is to draw attention to the practical part of film theory studies and encourage discussion about the possibilities of the audio-visual medium. The festival programme consists of non-professional films made by university students who study (or studied) in the audio-visual departments.

In 2013 the organizers of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Zlín decided to revive the idea of Zlínský pes, which have had been successful and independent student’s film festival had organized by Film school in Zlín, but with the perish of the school unfortunately the festival also had disappeared, therefore Zlín Film Festival decided to restore it as new film competition focused on student’s films. The section became a part of the main film program during the festival and the chosen student’s film are screened at the Zlín Film Festival Echoes.

Zoom Igualada - European Television Festival
