MAIA Workshops is a training programme in the field of project development. It is articulated in two residential workshops and three two-day seminars. In both workshops, the organizers will make extensive use of and explore the limits and potential of new digital technologies. The workshops are designed for New European producers, with priority given to professionals originating from the Mediterranean area, the countries of Eastern Europe, regions with low audiovisual production capacity and countries that have only recently accessed the MEDIA Programme.

The four-day-training course financed by the International Visegrad Fund aims at developing creative documentary projects coming from all over Europe but with a special focus on the life and culture of the V4 countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary).
myDEER is an intensive training course for professional filmmakers with two internationally acknowledged heads of studies, Tue Steen Müller and András Péterffy, and several individual tutors. Its goal is to foment international co-productions, especially with the participation of Czech, Slovak, Polish and Hungarian filmmakers and producers, to create a professional network and help filmmakers enter the European documentary film scene. The course brings together the insights of regional film traditions: the new trends in Hungarian and Slovak filmmaking, the Czech humour and the Polish cinematographic style to produce innovative works for the contemporary European documentary market.

A section named “Open Doors”, organized by festival Locarno with the collaboration of, and funded by, the Swiss Agency for Development and Collaboration of the Federal Department of Swiss Affair (DFAE – Switzerland) which aims at casting light on film’s projects from countries whose cinema is still developing, committing to enable them to find coproduction partners. This initiative, focusing on a different region every year, operates in two modes. On the one hand, Open Doors co-production lab brings professionals from the chosen region together with potential partners, mostly from Europe, to foster support for projects that would otherwise be difficult to make. Every year, following a call for submission, the Festival selects new projects from the chosen region, which will be presented during the Open Doors co-production lab. At the end of the workshop, the winning project will receive either development or production support.
On the other hand, especially for the public audience, the Open Doors Screenings: a non-competitive section of films particularly representative of the cinematographic and cultural universe of the chosen region.

Nordisk Film & TV Fond and Power to the Pixel join forces in new ambitious collaboration - cross media content for kids.
The Nordic region (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden) has a proud tradition of producing high quality film and TV programs for children. However content is no longer only consumed in cinemas and on TV screens. Mobile phones, game consoles and online platforms are new arenas for storytelling. Nordic production companies now have a unique chance to enter the scene.
To enhance the development of six pre-selected high quality Nordic cross-media projects Nordisk Film & TV Fond is joining forces with UK cross-media experts Power to the Pixel.
A development process will be specially designed and conducted by Power to the Pixel who will invite some of the best international experts who are working in cross-media.
