www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

The Visegrad University Studies Grants (VUSG) program targeting the countries of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) expands the current VUSG program and offers grant funding to projects developing university courses of degree programs that will be launched at colleges and universities accredited in the EaP countries. The program enables these colleges, universities or their legal units (schools, faculties) to apply with proposals for courses or programs of various academic fields that focus on sharing specific V4 experience with democratization and transformation process, regional cooperation, the EU accession process, etc.

Visions Sud Est

The Swiss fund visions sud est was initiated by the Foundation trigon-film Baden and the Fribourg Film Festival, with the collaboration of Nyon's Visions du Reel and the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. It supports film productions from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe, aims at making them visible worldwide and guarantees their distribution in Switzerland.

Wallimage

Wallimage s.a. and its subsidiary Sowalim s.a., were set up in Mons in 2001. Together, they act as the Walloon regional body for the audiovisual industry. The aim of Wallimage is to help structure the audiovisual industry in the Walloon Region and to support the set-up and development of audiovisual service companies, with investments and loans. Wallimage and Sowalim also act as co-producers for full-length feature films that use Walloon talent and technicians, either in production or in post-production.

West Danish Film Fund

The West Danish Film Fund was established in 2002 and have supported more than 400 projects. The fund supports films, documentaries, television series and multimedia productions including international co-productions. Support is given to artistically interesting productions which further the strengthening of the film industry in the region. Financial support is provided in the form of subsidies and/or investments. You need a Danish co-producer in order to apply.

World Cinema Fund - Distribution funding

The World Cinema Fund (WCF) was founded in October 2004 as a joint initiative of the German Federal Cultural Foundation and the Berlinale. It immediately established itself as one of the leading institutions funding outstanding international productions and rapidly gained recognition from those in the industry. The World Cinema Fund supports films which could not otherwise be realized without its funding. They are uniquely aesthetic, tell memorable stories and authentically reflect the cultural background of the regions in which they are made. The WCF supports cooperative projects involving German film producers and non-European filmmakers and producers. The World Cinema Fund has previously focussed its funding activities in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia; filmmakers from Southeast Asia and the Caucasus can also apply for funding.

Zürcher Filmstiftung - Zurich Film Fund

Zürcher Filmstiftung was established in 2004. It supports professional filmmakers in the Canton of Zurich. The fund supports the project development, production, promotion and distribution of feature, short, animated and documentary films. The fund supports primarily projects that are related to the Canton of Zurich (location, production company or director); co-productions are also funded, provided they are connected with the region.
