In August 1999, documentary maker Niek Koppen (1956) started a documentary production company with executive producer Jan de Ruiter (1951) and researcher Renée van der Grinten (1967).
Niek Koppen, who has won a Golden Calf (Dutch Film Prize) and in 1999 won the Prix Italia, made his name with films like Siki (1992), The Battle of the Java Sea (1995), The Hunt (1997), Working for Labour (1998) and Honour Your Father and Your Mother (2000).
He led the 1999 IDFA workshop.
Jan de Ruiter is responsible for the financial and executive management of the company. He worked for years making and producing industrial films and was responsible for executive management of the Dutch Photography Institute in Rotterdam.
Renée van der Grinten does not work for Selfmade Films at this moment.
The company also cooperates with other directors, ensuring their independence but also allowing an opportunity to share working experience. Documentary films are produced, for TV and cinema.

Film Magazine
Senses of Cinema is an online journal devoted to the serious and eclectic discussion of cinema. We believe cinema is an art that can take many forms, from the industrially-produced blockbuster to the hand-crafted experimental work| we also aim to encourage awareness of the histories of such diverse forms. As an Australian-based journal, we have a special commitment to the regular, wide-ranging analysis and critique of Australian cinema, past and present. Senses of Cinema is primarily concerned with ideas about particular films or bodies of work, but also with the regimes (ideological, economic and so forth) under which films are produced and viewed, and with the more abstract theoretical and philosophical issues raised by film study. As well, we believe that a cinephilic understanding of the moving image provides the necessary basis for a radical critique of other media and of the global “image culture”.

Founded in 1997. Formerly known as Tju-Bang Film. SF Film Production is the Danish production unit of Svensk Filmindustri AB. The goal of the company is to produce films of high artistic value that have potential on different platforms. Output: 2-4 fiction features (the main driver of the company), 2-4 documentaries and short films per year, besides involvement in international co-productions, TV-series, and the short format for the internet. Although the company's main driver is the feature film, they see fiction and documentary as being interdependent in developing the creative environment for a successful repertoire.
