www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

International Short Film Festival Cologne is a competitive event open to short films (max. 30 minutes). Every year, the festival commission evaluates more than 2000 entries and selects more than 50 films to compete in the official international competition. Films of all genres can compete, ranging from short fiction and documentaries to animations and experimental films. Films that do not participate in the competition can be screened as part of the special out-of-competition programme.

Showcomotion screens approximately 170 films made for or by young people. There are three sections: 1/ Panorama Programme: Films made for young people and films made by young people from around the world are accepted. Animations, live action, documentaries, features and shorts are accepted. 2/ The UNICEF UK Awards: a competition for short films on the theme of children’s and young people’s rights. There are three awards: The UNICEF UK Youth Award is for film makers up to 19 years old. The UNICEF UK Award is for professional film makers, semi-professional film makers and students aged 19 years plus. The Audience Award for the best overall film in both categories. Animations, live action, documentaries on the theme of young people’s rights are accepted. The duration is to be no more than 30 minutes. 3/ The Steel City Globe Awards: for short films on any subject. This competition is open to schools in the Sheffield city region only.
